No she won't, she'll have paid into it, plus a private pension, possibly. I don't think you get it?
No, I think if you think that your money only goes on things you can take out then who paid for your schooling, and your care when you were young etc etc because it cost probably a lot more than you'll ever put in individually into the system!#
(edit, plus, apparently they're paying for "other people's kids" so they can't be having their own money back in retirement!)0 -
I don't think anyone would grudge you the help you need to get over this hurdle.
However, earlier on, someone had actually factored in benefits and handouts when PLANNING their family and seemed incensed that they were no longer available....there's a world of difference between the two situations.
Now THIS, I agree with!
You shouldn't factor benefits in when planning, who knows when they will be withdrawn (like now for example!)0 -
100% agree with Kyresa - the various grants available to expectant parents should pay NO part in whether they can afford children, what is the matter with some people?? Do they cease to become financially responsible the minute a blue line shows on the pregnancy test? Surely this should all be worked out beforehand? I know so many families who earn more than my OH and I put together (I'm back to work in a few weeks after LO) for simply popping out kids without a second thought, and between us when I go back, we'll work 90 odd hours a week. Sickening to be honest, if you can't afford kids and can't give them the life they deserve then at least go along to your local Family Planning for some free contraception and save us tax payers some money - rant over! Its nice to be important but more important to be nice!0

Would be interested to know how the posters who are fully against not planning for a baby financially feel about abortion?0

That's a whole other discussion that's not really suitable for this thread.
I think people are talking about deliberate attempts to have a baby just to get benefits or planning to have one based on getting benefits rather than those GENUINE cases where accidents DO happen! (looks over to my almost 3 year old!!):o0 -
LOL, you think? The money you put in now will be worthless by the time you take it out!
Funny how you think it's amusing that someone is paying into a pension you say is worthless, yet are so sure the f e c k less (how is that a swear word???) who are breeding future benefit claimants will somehow magically provide enough money for a state pension!!That's a whole other discussion that's not really suitable for this thread.

Accidents can be dealt with, taxpayers shouldn't have hundreds of pounds a year deducted from their hard earned salaries to pay for those who choose to breed when they can't pay for it.0 -

I don't think I'll get to retire to be honest. The retirement age is going up and up... (and somehow all these jobs are going to magically appear too!)Accidents can be dealt with, taxpayers shouldn't have hundreds of pounds a year deducted from their hard earned salaries to pay for those who choose to breed when they can't pay for it.
Ah.. so you are the abort campaign (how else would you deal with "that" sort of accident) argue that with someone else to be honest. That's not an argument I'm going to have!
I've paid enough into the system over many years, and I'll continue to do so, so I have no guilt in getting tax credits for a couple of years to be honest with you, I'll consider that some of "my" taxpayer money that I'm getting back
