If the other2 lanes are empty then why are you in the outside lane?
  • to me outside lane would be on the far left, next to the hard sholder. The lane you are supposed to drive in if there is nothing in the other two lanes.

Inside lane would be the far right lane, 3rd one in, next to the central reservation.

So being up the back of someone in the outside lane, with middle and inside lanes free is an annoyance IMO!
  • My favourite ones are thos which drive at 40 in a NSL (usually with double whites)and brake when traffic comes toward them. Not always older drivers though.
I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.

There are bad drivers in all age groups. The worst for me are the ones driving 2 inches from my back bumper and the ones who text while driving.
You can tell as they have one hand on the steering wheel and keep looking down, at least I hope they are texting!

how many OAPs do you find using mobile phones when driving? These idiots are all younger people.
My hubby is 77 and never had a point on his license and the only accident he has had is when somebody has gone into the back of him when he was stationary. We do get idiots who blare their horn at us if we only go the speed limit while they want to do 80 miles an hour. What they don't realise is they may be able to pay the speeding fines but we pensioners can't.

I thought the outside lane was the one nearest the central reservation!

There may be a certain logic to that but it's certainly not standard usage.
There are two types of people in the world: Those that can extrapolate information.
  • I've been stuck behind an OAP driver once too often. They have to be amongst the worst drivers on the road.

They are nearly as bad as impatient drivers.
