thank you parsons for that ..so true ..i put all my trust in them and after nearly 3 hours of being there, was so stress and upset having to tell a person personal stuff ......i did expect it to be filled in proper ! as i find holding a pen painfull ....the truth is out there ... on these pages !!0

i used to volunteer for D I A L and filled out many DLA forms.
there are good advisors and bad ones!
we all volunteered for the same place......but some were better at the form filling than others.0 -

I am pleased that there are people like you around that do give their time so freely.
Yet, it is a bit surprising to hear that an ex advisor states that there are good and bad.
As a matter of interest how would us poor folk spot a good one in the future?
I wouldn't like to feel that I could put my wife under pressure again to go through with filling out another form and finding that she has a 'poor' advisor again!0 -

you don't have to join to read the tips. I did and my son now gets MRC and MRM, no medical, just on evidence sent,(GP letters etc.).C.R.A.P.R.O.L.L.Z # 40 spanner supervisor. No problem can withstand the assault of sustained thought.Only after the last tree has been cut down. Only after the last fish has been caught. Only after the last river has been poisoned. Only then will you realize that money cannot be eaten."l! ilyë yantë ranya nar vanwë"0 -
parsons...i'd say the devil is in the detail!
a bad advisor will just fill in the necessaries. a good one will ask lots of questions, some of which will seem unnecessary like 'describe in detail how you use the toilet'.
it isn't nosiness homest! but giving as much detail as possible makes all the difference.
i stopped volunteering because i was fed up with filling in claim packs for people that werent entitled, but knew what they needed to say!
i was told time and again, that it wasnt my job to adjudicate, just to fill the forms to the best of my ability, with the info the client provided.......even if i KNEW they were lying.
many times i'd watch someone saunter the 100 yards across the car park..then as they came in the door they'd be struggling to put one foot in front of the other.
there were many genuine claimants, who i'm proud to say. were awarded DLA/AA with my help. but in the end i couldnt continue to be complicit with the large number of fraudsters i was helping.0 -

Thank you for such an honest overview.
Should my wife at some time in the future decide to reapply for Attendance Allowance , I think now that I should be able to spot a good'un.
Thanks0 -

Now cit-k insists there are no frauds, no one gets DLA without mountains of real proof. But they do don't they?0 -
i stopped volunteering for the reasons i stated.
but that was in 2004, i dont know the situation now.0 -
as for what cit-k says. i disagree.
the best evidence you can have for a DLA/AA claim is a medical history. things like bad backs/depression are very hard to prove one way or the other, but if someone continuously sees their doctor, and can keep up the pretence for long enough.......... someone determined to defraud the system will manage it. lets just hope they get caught!0 -
My mother who is nearly 80 got turned down for AA, she has bad athritic mobility issues (listed also for a knee replacement, has a walking stick) , COPD, angina, stroke, we had to wait 6 mths to put the forms in again, with the help of a solicitor who specialises in the elderley & was doing her LPA at the time we were successful 2nd time round. I understand how you must be feeling right now esp as you left it in the hands of what was suppose to be a more knowledgable person. Please dont give up it can be looked at again but you have to detail absolutely everything thoroughly even what may be a minor thing needs to be descriptive in how you struggle with it - I wish you well with your appeal/next application.0
