Surprised nobody has mentioned the safest option - the only official ticket clearence/discounter selling on-the-day tickets is the TKTS booth right in Leicester Square. http://www.tkts.co.uk/ . It is run by http://www.solt.co.uk/ on behalf of its members.
  • some daily deal sites occasionally have deals with theatres. You just have to keep checking i guess. Living social and kelkoo select had some recent deals. i think it was to priscilla or so. gogroopie.com is doing one now for thriller.. £12! probably the lowest deal i've seen so far. seems good. last minute.com usually has some deals. check that out too.
  • heading to london in september but think my friends have seen most of the shows, shrek's a possibility but don't think it will be on any kind of offer at the time and don't want to spend a fortune so does anyone have personal experience of the cheaper seats in that theatre as to what they are like

Kelkoo select (sign up for daily emails) have theatre offers amongst others.

They normally give you the best seats left in a certain price range before discounted (you can quickly check the seat number at theatremonkey so you get the lo down on the actual seat before you book - be quick as Kelkoo only hold the seat for around 10 mins) They don't charge any fees.

I've seen 'Blood Brothers' - 'Woman in Black' - 'London Comedy Night' - Karamavoz Brothers' @ bargain prices.

Also look out for Evening standard Freebies and Compo's - got free tickets to 'Sandown Park racing and Sister Sisters' performing afterwards recently. Westlife was free earlier this year via here SO keep checking MSE!!!!!

Kids Week in the West End is a great scheme that is run for the last 3 weeks in August. For every full paying adult, you get one child free and up to 2 more children half price! There are also free workshops and activities that your children can take part in. More information can be found at www.kidsweek.co.uk

From experience I've found that going to a theatre on spec - say in the afternoon before that evening's performance - can mean you can sometimes get cheap tickets. If you're prepared to be flexible re seating it can save a lot. In December I got a £15 ticket in the dress circle at the New London Theatre to see War Horse. I had a fabulous overview of the stage as well :)
    Debt-Free as of 12th September 2017
