3 to exit UK

I am a big fan of three as well. Not a problem in my past 2 years - fantastic value for money and the customer service is excellent. Not only is the customer service free, it is also available 24 hours a day. The reps in India are very helpful, incredibly patient and polite. There is no way our British customer service reps would be that polite and patient.
Therefore I am hoping to stick with them when my contract ends in 3 weeks. I have been on Vodafone, o2 and T-Mobile. Hated Vodafone and the customer service treatment I got from o2 was disgraceful when I wanted to end my subscription after a year. I like phone companies who actually treat their customers with care and respect instead on emphasizing everything on sales and ££££. A lot of big companies treat you well when they are after your money but then treat you like 3rd class citizens after you have given them the money. After-sales care is a true measure of any company's stature in my opinion.0 -

Reports are circulating in London today that Hong Kong conglomerate Hutchison Whampoa has put its UK mobile phone business 3 UK up for sale. Goldman Sachs has been appointed advisor, according to the reports and an official announcement is expected to be made on Thursday.
My wonder is who will be buying the customer base ?
My moneys on o2
The announcement of Thursday was the launch of X Series, Mobile Internet via your handset... There were some pretty big players at the launch, so it doesn't look likely for a sale anytime soon. Hutchison will sell 3 (as they did Orange) but I wouldn't let that put you off buying their great deals (I still love my ZTE from Argos!)0 -
None of the big news sites have carried this story of 3 for def for sale.
IMO its hutchinson spreading rumours either for a sale or to inflate its own prices for whatever dodgy means.0 -

I guess Vodaphone wants the customers.

When I made an enquey with 3 last month about coverage they told me that after xmas they would be using the orange network as a backup.
Now I am confused.0 -

Fantastic network coverage / not had a problem in 3 years.
Customer services is excellent - unless you have a problem in dealing with Indians!
No problem dealing with indians but its the Cowboys (3) that are the problem. Poor customer service at best.
Network coverage is better than was but all the time you use call centres working from scripts youll never have an acceptable Customer Service function.Never trust a smiling cat0 -

this could simply mean they are 'piggy backing' their service. They currently use O2 for the voice calls. Similarly Virgin uses T-mobile, and so too did easymobile.
I would very much doubt 3 will be disappearing from the UK; they have and are currently investing more than any other network. They are also in the process of opening dozens and dozens of new official three stores.0 -

Sorry that isn't entirely true. 3 use their own network for voice calls, they only go over O2 when there is no 3 coverage.0 -

aye, but all I meant was they may be using oranges services in a similar way from next month (although this is only speculation)0 -
