  • I think that is one of my biggest problems, not understand what is a carb and what isnt, but im getting there. We are having shepards pie today, but i never serve it with more potatoes, just veg

Cuddles are one thing thats plentiful in our house, his bestfriend lives next door but 1 to us and she is always taking the mickey cause he just randomly comes and gives me a hug and tells me he loves me. But he just tells her to shut up and says you should hug your mum if you love them. bless him
  • does he like pasta?
Shut up woman get on my horse!!!
  • His school ahve a fab garden, it was designed by a designer for the chelsea flower show and has won numerous awards, they grow and eat all the products in it and also have a little sperate garden for all the animals and insects....this is a huge factor in whats got him interested as he is in the gardeners club at a lunch time.

I have an appointment with school next week when they go back after half term about his attendence and everything so i am going to ask about the school nurse then....she did get involved with him last year as he was complaing he couldnt hear properly in class, so they did hearing tests on his and he failed then so was refered to hospital....but after all the tests at the hospital we found out he was lying in the test so he failed and it was just another excuse not to go to school :(
  • Kimberley, he loves pasta, his fave meal is a bowl of pasta with grated cheese and tomato sauce....not healthy i know...but he loves it. Unortunately his sister hates pasta lol

Asda do kids wholemeal pasta that is small bits and not as bitty as some wholemeal pastas, my kids have this for packed lunch with asda special pasata and what ever veg we have kicking about and they love it, so much better for them than sandwiches. You can also make your own sauce, I normally do if we have it in the evenings but for lunches i used the jar one as its quicker.

This is strangely a good thing. It shows how long the issues have been going on! Make sure you tell the nurse that you've not found the doctors input to be helpful, tell her you don't fully understand food groups. We love to be proven to be more useful than doctors :rotfl:You are doing so well with this (and your son is too!) You should both be really proud of your efforts.

Thats the pasta i do get as he prefers it (or occasionally the scooby do pasta lol) I always make my own sauce....in fact its what we had for tea last night....I have never thoguht about giving it to him cold for lunches tho...might try that to see if he will eat it cold. Thanks :)
  • I agree with you about the GP. I have been told to lose weight by every GP I've seen over the past 20 years or more and yet not one has given any helpful advice or suggestions as to 'how'. Yet I do know of people who've been referred, given vouchers for the gym, all kinds of things.

It seems to be really hard to get referred to a dietician. When I went to my GP about my weight I was told I was going to be referred and sent a letter with information about how to make an appointment then two days letter sent a letter saying that on further inspection of records I didn't qualify for the criteria to see a dietician and so I could have a leaflet about healthy eating and good luck with pursuing a healthy lifestyle!!

It sounds like you're doing really well Taliahmai. I make a nice creamy tomato pasta sauce if you'd like the recipe. It sounds unhealthy but it uses extra light philadelphia and chopped tomatoes. I put lots of medditereanen veg in and make a pasta bake with it!
  • Thank you Caroline....I have wrote a list of notes i want to talk/ask about when i go see them...as i knwo i will just forget when i get there lol...I will defiantely tell them how useless my dr's have been. Ive made it my mission to get to grips with the food groups over this weekend lol

I would love that recipe thank you :) ive never thought about putting a cream cheese and tomatoes together ina sauce, i usually use either one or the other!

I have considered changing my dr as he seams so unhelpful, but what puts me off is the fact he delivered me 31 years ago lol, (aswell as my brother and sister, 39 years ago) and he also made a point of coming up to the hospital after the births of all 3 of my children (all 3 by section) just to make sure everything was ok. He also signed my brothers death certificate and attended his funeral....so he does know my whole family really well
