BT Broadband..or lack off....

I stupidly signed up for BT broadband after being with O2 for years,as I wanted to take advantage of the BT hotspots to login wherever I am in the UK,well, what a disaster,my phone line is dead,I can't make any outgoing calls, nor receive incoming calls,my broadband is so slow, and keeps cutting off,I reported the fault, they told me it was in my property,it is not, which was confirmed by an engineers visit,it was not set up properly at the exchange,so I rang again, they had arranged(without informing me) for another engineer to visit my house the next day, even though the fault is at the exchange,I still have no phone,I call BT am in a queue for ages, and quite frankly the staff don't care. I want to cancel and end this misery, does anyone know what rights to cancel I have,or someone to contact direct at BT to sort out this fiasco and get my line running properly, but my advice to anyone wanting BT broadband: DO NOT EVEN GO THERE, I am normally a patient person, but this has pushed me to my limit.

Just had a text message from 64364 BT to say I will be charged £130:00 if the fault is in my home, ending the message with 'thanks'.
My phone line and broadband was perfect before BT laid there mitts on it,what a complete fiasco,BT should stand for bloody trouble.

Even though the engineer has been to my house, and said the fault is definitely at the exchange, are they just trying to make me madder than I already am???

BT had my fault as fixed when it was not,had stopped my call divert service so I missed several calls, had to phone back again for the 20th time, eventually someone nice from BT called and has promised to sort this out for me,my broadband packed up last night, got it back today but is very, very slow, and breaks up.It IS their fault, but am worried a charge will show up on my account,as they did this to my wife when the face plate became faulty, they charged her £150:00 to fix their property, even though the engineer and fault service said she would not be charged,(You can buy faceplates for 50p)so we will see what happens. My wife did warn me about BT,but I did not listen, did not think any business could be that bad, well,I was wrong.

Can anybody clarify for me who actually is responsible for the faceplate on the wall where you plug your phone into?Is it BT's property,or the owners?I always though BT were responsible for the line up to and including the socket.???

BT/Openreach are responsible for upto and including the master socket, if the master socket is a NTE5 type you can remove the lower consumer panel and expose a test socket, doing this should disconnect any extension wiring and sockets (if fitted correctly)
The thing to keep in mind though is if the socket goes faulty and isnt deemed to be fair wear and tear, like its fitted on a wall with damp issues, or something has been spilled into it, then that is a chargeable repair, and even the cable leading upto the master can be charged for if its damaged within the end users property, an example may be a cable damaged by a tree within the end users property.

It was the socket with the little 'shutter' on it,was in for years,it just jammed, could not get phone socket in it.

Anyway,I will dump BT,I have had enough, still no phone,b/band is crap, people phoning me with promises, but nothing is happening,am going to Virgin fibre optic, and getting a phone line from them as well, unless a miracle happens in the next 2 hours.:( 4 days with no phone, and useless b/band,it's just not good enough BT.:mad:People phoning me telling me they are exhausted trying to fix my problem,I do not care,I have paid for a service I have NOT got,I have paid my line rental for ayear up front,so I can go anytime, and I can cancel my b/band within 14 days,as I have not had a good service, and on days, none.

Well, despite about 3 different people telling me my problem would be fixed ASAP,my line is still out,my b/band is slow and cuts off,yet again today I was sent a text message to say my fault is fixed,IT IS NOT,I rang BT as I am so furious over this,I want to cancel my b/band and my BT line,I have paid a year up front for my line rental, they informed me I will lose all that money, and will have to pay £5:00 a month EVERY month by direct debit until August next year, even though I will not have a phone line for my 'call package',then next year I will have to pay them 6 months line rental,These people are unbelievable, they mess me about,do not provide me with any service, then charge me lots of money to cancel, make promises they do not keep,PLEASE TAKE ADVICE FROM ME,DO NOT GO ANYWHERE NEAR BT YOU WILL REGRET IT AS I HAVE.My next step is to go to the ombudsman and make an official complaint.:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:
