Could someone please advise me if there are rewards that can be claimed,

.................:)....I'm smiling because I have no idea what's going on ...:)
  • Why would you not try and track down the owner. Personally it's a relief to have it handed in and there might be other things in there I have forgotten about. Fair enough banks will reissue free cards but what about driving licences etc

Totally agree that you should try to locate the owners.

Who knows, they may have kids you could abduct and add them to the list of things you want paying for.

PS. I found some self respect lying in the gutter earlier today. Has anyone here lost theirs?

I found a card on the street once and took it to the bank (I think it was HSBC?) to hand it in, and they gave me £10 (which I wasn't expecting). This was several years ago though. If I found a whole wallet I'd just hand it in to the police, because if I lost mine, I'd rather get it back whole.

Hand it in to the police instead of holding out for your own benefit you tramp.
  • Hi,As a Licenced Taxi Driver we have a legal obligation to hand in any property found into a Police Station and obtain a reciept. If a wallet or a purse is found containing cards etc i will hand them into the Bank concerned. As a matter of interest i seem to remember some time ago reading of a racket run by some elements of the mini cab trade selling on lost documents and cards.

Now that you are in possession of it you are legally obliged to take reasonable steps to return it to the owner, otherwise you will be committing an offence of "theft by finding", as shown in these cases:

Hi wondering if anyone can advise.

My partner has found a wallet with a number of credit cards and reward cards etc in it.

She has reported it to the police and intends on handing it in to them tomorrow, she has also tried to find a way of contacting the owner directly.

However I have advised her to look into the possibility of collecting any rewards she may be entitled to before handing it into the police as they may not advise her of such.

I have heard that there could be rewards of approx. £50 for handing in lost cards, some forums I have briefly looked up today state a mixture of info, some say there are such rewards and some say there arent but without little evidence.

Could someone please advise me if there are rewards that can be claimed, I'm guessing if there are it would be quite a secret.

    Much appreciated.

Oh dear, glad it wasn't mine you found :-(

(Cynical smiley) Ha! They're the biggest criminals out there nowadays...

Just hand it in at a bank and let them deal with it, you'll have done the right thing in handing it over then let someone else deal with reuniting it with the rightful owner (who should have reported there cards missing anyway).
