Worse off living with partner?
Kasha2000UK
I am currently claiming Job Seekers Allowance and Housing/Tax benefits.
My partner and I are really desperate to move in together, we can't really get a place elsewhere (can't afford to rent, and not in dire enough need to get a place via council) so looks like he may have to move into my council flat with me short-term. But not sure if that's even possible financially speaking while I don't work.
He works full-time earning about £16k, I think. Right now as I'm living off £42 p/w and he's practically here all the time anyway he helps me out, but he also has debts to pay and pays rent/bills to his parents too. It would be better for us if we lived together, but I heard I'd get no benefits in that situation...so it'd be a case of 6 and two 3's.
Don't much fancy trying to ask the job centre about this because...well...their useless, and currently giving me a hard time for being disabled so I don't much want to have to talk to them about anything, let alone ask for advice/help.
Anyway, can anyone shed some light on this for me?
What benefits would I loose if living with a partner?

I'd hurry up and let the JCP know about the situation before you're prosecuted for benefit fraud; you're obviously living as a couple already.0 -

Many people live together and chose that option over benefits.
Having one lot of bills are a lot cheaper than paying for two lots of bills.

You need to cut this right down, you are going to get in trouble, :eek:Blackpool_Saver is female, and does not live in Blackpool0 -
what disibility benefits do you receive as these may be unaffected, Housing/Council Tax Benefits will be based on your total household income. Might be also looking at working tax credits0

Which begs the question, in which way is she disabled and why is she not in receipt of the relevant benefits?0 -

This makes no sense at all as you already live in a property from the council.0 -

I have Asperger's - there's no benefits for that, I am capable of working so cannot get ESA, but my disability limits what work I can do and most employers simply won't employ someone who is disabled.0
