Incidentally, 1992 1ps & 2ps are no good. They gotta be 1991 or earlier.
Yes, sad as it is, I have also been tucking these away for a while.
Seems rude not to.
There is an exception to this, approximately 55% of 1998 two pence pieces minted were bronze.
'Operational reasons' I believe.
Sorry, I've landed at this thread a little late but Smeagold is right.
Put it another way. If you knew that 20 to 30 percent of the ten pound notes in circulation were actually worth £20, would you be saving them?
Course you would.
There is no difference, apart from the weight of the moneybags.....0 -
2p, or not 2p. That is the question...Living for tomorrow might mean that you survive the day after.
It is always different this time. The only thing that is the same is the outcome.
Portfolios are like personalities - one that is balanced is usually preferable.

Can anyone provide a guideline on any legislation or export tariffs / regulations applicable to the export of pre-1992 1p and 2p coins to destinations outside the EU ?
(If not, in a more general sense for UK tender as a whole)0 -
having just read all the thread...why so much hostility to Smeagold....if that's what he wants to do so what? why does it rile so many posters here? congrats to thinking outside the box...if it makes u money/brings happiness, if it leads to other ideas....current climate being as it is etc etc we might see those pennies removed from circulation soon...copper is valuable in so many ways, could be useful to have some if not for selling on for profit....can't understand the hostility expressed here...it's typical of these boards IMO, people with different ideas failing to be reasonable with each other...i thought this place was all about us all making money...if you've got better ideas why don't yo just get on with them instead of knocking other people...one idea leads to another...i would like to know how you earn your total corn though Smeagold, if that's not rude...0

I don't know what they are worth exactly but it reminded me of an article I read not long ago, it has more information and links to sites where you could find out
