cyclingyorkie wrote: »I have seen Esther Rantzen again in the Daily M***. Yet another article on how her daughter was finally cured of ME! That woman's had more comebacks than Lazarus!
Esther Rantzen is President of AYME - one of the charities for people under 26 with ME. They do stirling work helping people but whenever I see Esther on TV or in the media she never mentions them!
When she mentions ME it's usually in relation to her daughter and what has cured her this time. Last time it was the Lightening Process ( doesn't work for everyone, costs in the region of £700!)... a topic on which AYME is officially neutral ( some members recovere, some are made worse when having done it)!
Some years after her daughter was cured of the by the Lightening Process todays article speculates that Emily's 14 years of suffering was caused by Coeliac disease.........
I am so frustrated! This charity does such good work in hard times to try and promote awareness of ME ( more school days are lost through ME in Britain than any other long term illness!!!!!) and it serves it's members so well.........it just doesn't need this. Parents hopes may be raised (DD1 was tested for this at the beginning of her illness - so we know it doesn't apply) but I seriously doubt that many will discover it to be the answer to all their problems.....
Sorry for the rant! But I am :mad::mad::mad:!
Surely the whole point of having a 'celeb' with a personal interest/connection to the medical condition the charity is working for is to raise the profile of the charity. (I really miss that 'confused' smiley)
Right - off to tackle the kitchen.0 -
Morning all
Today's list all done, also damp wiped in living room and computer desk and vacuumed right through downstairs and did up the stairs too.
Washing on the line, though showers are forecast so I'm keeping a beady eye on it.
Happy Birthday Dusty:bdaycake:
Off to catch up now. Hope everyone's OK.
I've now cleaned the living room window, the front door glass and the glass in the panel next to the door (after doing the kitchen window/door). The outsides were done last week so it's not looking too bad now.0 -
Sentora i recently bought a brilliant book called cut the clutter by Cynthia Townley Ewer. Its really good and she is the founder of OrganizedHome.com which is a really good site. HTH. x
ETA and of course here...the flylady thread! xx
I second that recommendation since I was one of the moderators on the forums that are mentioned in the acknowledgements:rotfl: I still follow their christmas lists and when I'm in a "I really can't be bothered. Can't even be bothered with pigpens lists" mood I have a flick through and it usually inspires me to get back with it...and do level 1
:rotfl:
I do NOT recommend Perfect Housewife books by Anthea Turner. I'd get them from the library if you can and cherry pick the ideas/recommendations. I don't think they're worth the RRP of £12.99. I have both and I've bought them both on clearance or with vouchers
The other household management book I have is "The Family Manager Takes Charge" by Kathy Peel. I regularly dip into it when I've got something in particular I need to do. Like when I was planning to move a few months back, I went through it and made lists of everything I needed to organiseI love the lists
Creeping back in for accountability after falling off the wagon in 2016.Need to get back to old style in modern ways, watching the pennies and getting stuff done!0 -

Back from nursery pick up and just decluttering some lunch and a cuppa with dd2 while ds snores away in his pushchair lol!
Have enrolled dd2 in the cleaning tasks... she is in charge of wiping the cupboard fronts and dining table... luckily she loves helping so she thinks i'm being really generous lol!
I really must go and join the grocery challenge... we are trying REALLY hard to budget as I am only going back to work for 3 days in April so if we get into the habit now we should be ok.... packed up smoking too so that should save ALOT of ££'s!
I'm going to pop into the butchers later... never used a butchers before so any advice on what to ask for greatly recieved... he'll probably think i'm a right numpty lol!
Right... time to finish cuppa and get flying
