Phoned the docs this morning hoping for a home visit as little one was complaining that her head hurt and the forehead thermomiter went up to 104 within 2 seconds. and she had stopped going to the toilet despite still drinking, also slept in till late today but i put that down to the fact she had hardly any sleep over the weekend.
On hold for 20 mins so i just picked her up and walked down there luckily i only live 5 mins away from doctors.
Sat waiting for an hour and then the docs gave her some antibiotics called flucloxacillin and said keep up with caulpole/ibruprofen/piriton and if she gets anyworse to bring her back down. she said sometimes not that she has ever seen it that the pox affects the brain but she susspects that my little ones head ache is through temprature.
I have managed to get her temp down and stable now, fingers crossed she is on the up. now all i need to do is get this antibioics into her 4 times a day she is normaly really good at taking meds, i must say i can not blame her its awful i even tried putting some into a small cup of milk but it tasted the same :0)0 -
our two had it in the US on holiday last year, have to say it was the best place to get it, may sound odd but they give 2 different medicines, one to stop the itching and another to stop the spots developing. Son who got it first has one scare on his back daughter who got it second not a mark.
One of the medicines was is a liquid form of a cold sore medicine and though both were expensive worth every penny. The doctor who had worked in the UK told us that the reason we dont give the medicines was purely down to costs, but Drs can give the medicine if asked. In the US they also vaccinate and therefore cases of chicken pox are rare and our son had 10 different dr and nurses coming to see him just because so many hadnt seen it before.0 -
Mix it with jam? my mum who was a dr and did work at A&E at Alder Hey used to say 104 and rising is the concern, I am glad that her temp is responding.0

I was the third of 3 brothers to catch it and got it far worse than either of them, so I would agree with your theory. Not nice at all.building_with_lego wrote: »Poor little thing.
I don't have anything to add to the above advice but a friend told me recently that her gp had told her that when a child catches it from a sibling they seem to get it much worse than the first one. I've been talking to a few parents since and it does seem to hold true among my social circle!

There's Eurax cream or lotion - they work to stop the pain from the spots in a way that bicarb and calamine don't.
It's available on prescription.
I had chickenpox whilst pregnant. Spots on the inside of everywhere (including my throat, lungs and ) is not something I would wish on anyone. Except the people who think chickenpox is just a minor irritation!I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.Yup you are officially Rock n Roll

Well another rough night with little one.
I had to call the dr out at 12 o clock last night as i put the thermometer on her head it shot up to a solid 104 within 2 seconds, she was shivering/shaking and complaining of a headache and her arms legs and face were bright red.
Dr came out at 5am thismorning looked in her mouth and ears and asked to see the antibiotics she had been given. i ended up getting the origional ones changed as she could not take the first lot.
He asked about giving her calpole/ibruprofen/piriton ect and said to alternate the calpole/ibruprofen every 3 hours so as her body will not have a chance to get too hot.
On the upside the spots are now starting to scab and hopefuly the antibiotics will kick in today as dr said the usualy take 24hrs to get into the system, hopefuly she will start to feel a bit better in herself and stop worrying me so much, bless her.0 -
Clod flannel on the face if she can stand it to help cool the itching, and i'd say cool/lukewarm baths so as not to agravate it more.** Total debt: £6950.82 ± May NSDs 1/10 **** Fat Bum Shrinking: -7/56lbs **
