Does your DVD recorder have an HDMI socket?...
I'm not sure, I'll have to have a look at it later to see. So, if the DVD recorder does have an HDMI socket, am I right in thinking then that I should HDMI cables for connecting them all together? And if it doesn't, then do I need to use the SCART to connect the DVD to the FOXSAT HDR?0 -
Heinz, if my DVD RDR-HXD870 is compatible with the Humax receiver, do you think it would still be better getting the Humax recorder instead of the Humax receiver or would this just be duplicating what my existing DVD recorder can do. I don't mind getting the Humax recorder if you think it's worth it. I do occasionally watch some DVD's I have, and occasionally record onto them.
I don't think your dvd recorder has a freesat tuner so if you want to record one program while watching another you will need a pvr or 2 freesat receivers one connect to your TV and one to your dvd recorder much easier to use PVR.
You will need two feeds from dish for either solution.0 -

To record from the Humax on the DVD recorder in SD you will need to use a Scart lead from the Humax to the Sony. No DVD or Bluray recorder has a HDMI input socket.0 -
My latter comment was referring to the connection between TV and Foxsat. No free lunch, and no free laptop0

Bear in mind as well that if you go the Freesat PVR route, you'll need a twin feed from the satellite dish if you want to be able to watch one channel while recording another.
Sounds like you'll use HDMI to connect the Freesat receiver/PVR to the TV and SCART to connect to the DVD recorder for the odd occasion that you want to keep a permanent copy of a programme on the PVR disc. What is SD, please?0 -
OK, just to clear things up, here's what equipment I'll have:
Satellite dish
TV HD ready (Sony KDL-32V2000)
HUMAX FOXSAT-HDR
DVD recorder (Sony RDR-HXD870)
Could someone please tell me which needs to be connected to what, with which cables. Many thanks.0
