Every single text, call and date usage is recorded with their price against it and provided you haven't gone over the limit the bill shows all your usage as being free. There is also a summary page which shows you what you have used and what you have left and the date your new minutes etc start.
I just noticed this and it makes for some funny reading when you look at it!

"Tesco Mobile offers great value and excellent service to all our customers, but to do this we have to discourage unusually demanding usage that could harm the network and the experience of all Tesco Mobile customers. Our fair usage policy means that almost all our customers on unlimited tariffs will have more than ample cover for their needs.

"In fact, even before we heard of Mr Alderman's experience we had already changed our processes for implementing the fair usage policy as we recognised that we needed to do more for our customers.
"The new process means that in the rare instance a customer reaches the fair usage limit, they will receive a text to point this out. We will only ever charge customers if their usage is continued and excessive. We also put a cap on additional costs so that customers are protected from unknowingly generating bills.
"All customers receive details of our fair usage policy in their welcome letter. However in light of this feedback we will also be making the details much more visible on our website."

I have just signed up with them. Not had any welcome letter!
I am aware of the 3,000 limit - we were told in store that 'it is impossible to go over 3,000 - it just cannot be done'. Just not true - my daughter went 10% over this last month - albeit with another company, so it is very possible and that did not involve any holiday periods from school.
However I was also told that Tesco would not charge for any texts or data over the limit as part of the sale routine, so it would be interesting if I was charged.f1ameboy007 wrote: »I thought I was in an unlimited internet contraact but have been hit with a £500 bill for going over my 'fair usage policy'
I cant afford that, what am I going to do???:(
Thanks

how much data did you actually use ?
what did your online account usage tracking show ?
I ask as I find mine quite misleading ... I'm on "unlimited" - 1GB fair usage
when I check my online account - tracking usage
theres a green bar to show how much of each of calls, texts and data you've used ... fine
for data - left hand side says "0" - right hand of bar says "unlimited"
I've used up this month 400mb out of 1GB ... and 1/10th of the bar is filled in .....Smile and be happy, things can usually get worse!0 -

I'm truly annoyed with Tesco Mobile.
I took out 3 contract sims to make sure my wife and 2 kids had access to a mobile phone at all times but I'm upset after checking a bill.
My son is entitled to 500mb a month and somehow as he is not sure as he rarely uses his mobile at all he got a message saying he was close to his limit.
Well I have no idea how as I checked his online bill and there is no charge for data but he has used his allowance up but I'm getting charged £44 for high usage , They have cut his phone off for high usage but it is capped so he can't go over his allowance so why a high usage fee when all that's used is his allowance which I truly doubt as his phone is hardly ever on.
I checked and it says 60p per MB outside his allowance but they have blocked his phone totally and I reiterate again his phone bill online says £0.00 charge , So why a high usage fee.
I really hope you read this Mr Lance Batchelor as my son is 14 and has told me he will pay using his Christmas tips he had saved up from his paper run which was intended to buy new rugby equipment for himself.
I'm Gutted for my son but I hope you get back to me and look into this and unblock his phone as he is a low usage user using 7 minutes and 126 texts in this months allowance which I must say is extremely low usage.

If it's capped there should be no futher payment to make. Have you phones Tesco to ask whats going on? Unless you do it may not be noticed as I can't imaging a company CEO reading this forum and responding to you.
You should be able to check on the phone how much data it has used, it's not hard to use up 500MB of data, watching the Iplayer, using facebook, or a bundle of online services. Many smartphones update in the background, there could be an application on the phone using data that neither of you have realsied.
Unfortunatly this is a side effect of giving contract phones and Sims to children, your son may have not realsed what data was being used but he (or more accuratly you) will still get a bill.
Sorry thats seems a little negative, but you need to contact tesco and also check the phone to see what has been used and wht applications have been installed. It may be legitamate use, or it may be there is a mistake and the cap has not been applied.0
