Regardless of network, it's essential that users check the small print for hidden charges... I do think the word 'unlimited' is highly misleading in the case of Tesco as it's extremely limited in this age of streaming video and such like.
For the record I am with Tesco sim only mobile but rarely use more than 50mb in a month data wise.
I think it very poor that mobile operators are not required to notify/warn via text that you're clocking up huge data costs.
The OP hasn't mentioned what he's been doing to get in this situation, it's often when people use their mobile abroad and forget to turn off all data applications and disable data roaming ability. Of course many people don't know that they need to do this.

"Unlimited" takes on a new definition when Tesco (and others) use it. Bit like the Tesco store near me which has a big sign outside it saying "Open 24 Hrs". But of course it only opens for 6 hours on a Sunday and doesn't open until 8am on a Monday.:)

It's only if they are over 280 m2 (3,014 sq ft) according to Wiki.
I really fail to understand how the ASA/Ofbum allow FUP where Unlimited is mentioned !! Why can't they say up to 500mb??
Also Internet and phone for *** BUT in small print, plus Line Rental. They should say Internet/Phone/LR for ****0 -

If you get no joy, it's something that Watchdog et al would probably love to hear from you about. No doubt Tesco Mobile would also love to go on Watchdog and tell everyone about their new reduced rate for Out of Bundle data (although it's still a rip-off - just less scandalous than their existing rate) so everyone's a winner.
£4/MB is just ridiculous. Seems designed to catch people out - particularly if you weren't warned you'd gone over the 500MB limit. Other providers will either txt you or throttle/cut off your data, both of which are preferable to a £500 bill.
Have sympathy for the OP - very easy to use another 100MB without realising if you're watching video etc.0 -
There's love in this world for everyone. Every rascal and son of a gun.
It's for the many and not the few. Be sure it's out there looking for you.
In every town, in every state. In every house and every gate.
Wth every precious smile you make. And every act of kindness.

TBH the fair usage policy is fairly prominent for most phone companies these days, but I do agree a bit of a warning from Tesco would alert the OP that they were going over that "limit"0
