    Dear dcg67

    Agreed.

I have the same worry about you. I know any debts are all paid up fully but I fear their possible underhand tactics - the internet is awash with horror stories.
I work with a number of solicitors and I will have no hesitation in refering capquest straight to one of them if they try something on. In fact I am ready to give them my solicitor's number if they should call me again.
It's just the thought of this hanging over my head I can't stand.

Will check out the site you mentioned -thanks

    Hi

Actually they can do a full search on you, I had one done on me around December by a debt recovery company saying I had a debt with A&L. The search (outstanding debt search) stays on your file for two years. Apparently they can do this if they think you owe them money and you dont have to authorise it. I raised this with equifax, as I did not owe and haven't had an account with A&L and they wrote to the debt company requesting more info. They did not respond to Equifax within the alloted time, and this morning EQ emailed me to say they have taken this search off of my report..

    Thanks!!
    Lo

It's now ten days since I heard from Capquest and fifteen days since they supposedly posted their letter to me.

I will next be able to check my credit file on 26th March to see if they have done a new search or anything.

Well folks, it is now 22 days since I heard from Capquest and 27 days since they supposedly posted a letter to me.

I've checked my credit file, this morning, and no searches have been made.

Possibly the Capquest call centre in Japan is dealing with my case and their lack of further contact is down to the earthquake, tsunami and nuclear fallout.

I believe they're based in Hampshire but we can hope all three are visited upon them...

It's now 30 days since Capquest contacted me and 35 days since they supposedly posted me a letter.

    What are they playing at?

Will next check my credit file on 26th April.

Meanwhile, I am a Director of a small charitable company, on a voluntary basis, and some outfit called Fairfax Solicitors telephoned me, last week, regarding money apparently owed to HMRC. Told them it was the first I had heard about it. Apparently letter sent to wrong registered office address, last November, by HMRC. I requested a copy of this letter and that they let their client know.

Instead, some stupid standard debt collecting letter arrived from Fairfax Solicitors Ltd.

I gave them both barrels, by e-mail, yesterday, pointing out that the Patron of this company is a Member of Parliament, so they had better do things properly.

Got a mealy mouthed e-mail in reply, saying that no action would be taken and that they were referring back to their client.
