Capquest credit search

On subscribing to checkmyfile.com, I noticed that a credit search was made by Capquest debt recovery against my name at my previous address in July 2010 (I moved out in April 2010). They have never contacted me and I have no idea why they would have carried out this search without my authority or knowledge.
Does anyone have any ideas what they are up to?

Hi dcg67,
Debt collection agencies such as Capquest do a search on peoples credit files in relation to outstanding debts. It is not a full credit search though as they need your permission for a full search. If you've had outstanding debts in the past, it will be in relation to this.If you've nothing decent to say, perhaps you shouldn't say anything.

No o/s debt that I am aware of. I am registered on voters roll at current address, which is also credit linked to the old address, and so there is no reason why they couldn't reach me. So far I've heard nothing. I'm inclined to sit tight until they do contact me. Right course of action?0

Coincidentally, having made this post, I got a telephone call, yesterday morning, from a South African woman representing Capquest, wanting to confirm my date of birth. I stated that it was not my policy to divulge personal details over the phone to callers that I did not know. She hung the phone up on me!0

Hi dcg67,
As you say you have no debts that are outstanding, it could just be a case of mistaken identity. They will be very persistent though now they've called once.If you've nothing decent to say, perhaps you shouldn't say anything.

This is correct, unfortunately. Read this thread for inspiration

Hilarious stuff.
Three days have elapsed and no more phone calls. I have yet to receive anything in the post.
Either they have re-checked their records and discovered that I am not their target person or I have all this fun yet to come.0 -
A South African man called me today identifying himself as a Capquest drone and asked if I was xxxx. I replied in the affirmative and he just hung the phone up on me!0

Just received a call from another South African from Capquest wanting me to confirm my date of birth and postcode. Very polite when I advised him that I do not divulge that information over the phone and he advised me that a letter had been sent to me on 27th February.0

Slow post then!
And 27 Feb was a Sunday. What dedicated employees they must have.0
