The point I was trying to make is that, leisure time isn't and shouldn't be a priority - especially if you're struggling for money.

So people should stay at home worrying about financial difficulties? Rather than enjoying themselves with friends, escaping from the burdens of life.

try the debt free section on this forum there is a link to fill out a SOA statement of affairs incomings and out goings at least then you will have it all mapped out.

I would prioritise your debts and work on clearing those debts with the biggest % charges ie banks.

The crucial thing it seems is that you try and find a source of income (any job) at least then you can contact the bank/s and say this is how much I make and this is how much I can afford to pay back each month.

In the time being I would contact your Debts/bank/s and explain your situation and that you cannot afford to pay off the repayments etc and you are out of work and see if you can freeze any further charges and agree on a repayment plan with them (a realistic one - you have to eat and pay rent etc). I would also contact them in writting and keep a copy of the letter with you income and outgoings and explain what you can afford to pay send it recorded delivery and keep a copy.

Speak to your university see if they can help you I'm pretty sure one of my friends got an emergency loan or something when he was there going through a rough patch.

Put your scout movement on hold you cant afford it...

Again check out the debt free board people will help you on there if you need advise.

    Good Luck.

No, but they shouldn't spend money unncessarily.

Some things in life need to be put on hold because of other things. This is one of them.

I didn't say that it was my maion priority. My main priorities are food, course costs, printing credit and laundry but I think that everyone is entitled to have free time to do whatever they choose to do.

Also, I recently found an article-writing service named Triond where you earn revenue from the advertising off of the sites where your articles are published which is pretty nifty ;) It's gonna take a lot of time and effort to earn substantial money from it but I think it will be worth it in the end as I enjoy writing :)

If they can do it for free - great. (Alternatively, they could use their free time to get a job and work through their financial difficulties.)

    )

People may be entitled to free time but nobody's entitled to spend money on leisure activities. Perhaps this attitude of entitlement is what's got you into financial difficulties in the first place?
  • Why don't you all stop discussing the definition of 'leisure time' and picking over the finer details of Tombo's post and offer some constructive advice. One of the most soul-destroying things when I hit rock bottom was people always asking me to come along with them for nights out or the cinema or even for a coffee and having to say no, time and time again. I didn't think I was entitled to these things, but dedicating months to finding a job without any luck and no social life is depressing. It affected my health and it affected my Uni work.

I'd expect some of you could appreciate that but it seems you'd much rather kick someone whilst their down.

Tombo, there are a lot of sites on the internet that offer services like Triond, and I wouldn't hedge my bets on making money from it. Those banners that are all over the internet saying "I made x amount of dollars from home" are for similar services. If you can make some money out of it, great, but I really would resign myself to the fact that I'm going to have to go out there and get a real job. That's the only way you'll be sure of making money.
  • First result for 'triond reviews' on google:

Not good! Doesn't look like there's any real money to be made.
  • The OP had the best advice in post #2, which was to get a job. Threads on MSE often go off topic but discussions on where someone spends their money or their attitude to doing so seem highly pertinent to me.
