help, been getting messages on mobile from these first credit people too, very frightening. Glad found this website cos don't know what to do, as far as aware have no debts but the thought of police involvement, as threatened to one person is horrendous. I am severely disabled and the thought of me and my wheelchair being carted off keeps me awake at night, seems proving innocence does not deter these thugs. So far only contact has been on mobile, will refuse to talk on phone, hope someone has suggestions0

Try not to worry about it, it is very unlikely they will come round to your house. If they knew where you lived they would be sending letters too.
The police won't get involved, unless you have committed a crime. If you had committed a crime you would be getting policemen knocking on your door not calls on your mobile.
You are right to not talk to them on the phone, make them put whatever it is they want to say in writing. You may find they can't do that because they don't know where you live.
BTW, have you any idea why they are calling you? Have you actually spoke to them on the phone, or just had messages left?0 -
thanks for reassurance, only mobile calls so far but have always been on electoral register so expect letters next, at least then will know what is going off. Have no idea what it is about, missed first call and phoned them, wouldn't give any details as they were extremely rude and refused to identify themselves. All can think is had a letter 4 years ago from another company regarding something called Brittania music club, which I had never been involved with, requested details, any contracts with signature, gave them 4 weeks to answer never heard again. Concerned may be victim of I.D. theft as cheques posted to my bank with paying in slip went walkabout 2 years ago, turned up altered and cashed through false bank account, suppose they would have had enough details to grab my identity. Was going to move to adapted bungalow but reading this site seems that gives fraudsters best chance. Cheers for replying0

I have today recieved a text message from these guys from 07781 472651. It said 'Please call 1st Credit urgently on 0870 164 2047 quoting reference ******* or reply to this message and we will call you back.'
I have no idea why they would be chasing me, I work for a high street bank and have not defaulted on anything. I called the number and gave them the reference and the asked for my name which I gave - I have a triple barrelled surname but only gave part of it - and then they asked me for my date of birth. I told them that I would only give them any further details if they told me exactly what this was regarding but some arsy c*w told me they wouldn't tell me and demanded my DOB again, I refused and she told me they would be writing to me then and hung up. What on earth? Anyone heard about the text messages? Is this a scam? My financial situation can affect my job so this has rather worried me. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass...it's learning to dance in the rain.0 -
Saw this and had to sign up to post. I had a call from these idiots today asking for someone I had never heard of. Explained it to them and they said I may need to have the name disassociated from my own by the council. Looked into it but couldn't find anything but writing to credit agencies, so presume it was just some kind of tactic. Anyway they said they were going to write with details.
After a cursory check of the electoral roll I discovered that the name I believe they were looking for actually resides in the same numbered flat in the block next door.
If I do receive a letter then I am going to write back threatening legal action on the basis that they were negligent in causing me distress and cost me in the order of £20 checking that this person was not on my credit record (wasn't).
I suspect that something similar applies in your case!0 -
Hi,
My ex got a letter from 1st credit at his address, where I have never stayed, claiming to be collecting debt on behalf of Lloyds TSB credit card.
When I called them yesterday at 4.50pm, I got a really rude little upstart telling me I was owing the credit card £1200 and had not been making repayments. I thought I had so I told him I would check my statements and get back to them. He then interrupted me and said if I can't pay the full balance in 7 days, I would be taken to court. He then proceeded to ask me details regarding my employment and when I told him I work as a credit controller, he laughed at me. He then went on to tell me I would have a CCJ registered against me, clearly not taking into account I live in Scotland where there is no such thing as a CCJ. At this point I started crying with the shock of it all and was told 'The waterworks don't work with me love'.
After the call, I checked through my bank statements and sure enough, my direct debit had been cancelled back in Jan and so I am due money to my credit card, but I have had no letters or correspondence from Lloyds regarding this.
I called back 1st Credit this morning and spoke to another rude man. He would not listen to what I had to say and told me they would not accept an instalment plan, even though I told him I could have the debt cleared in 4 months. This, apparently, is not within their guidelines. At this point I told him to send the account to a solicitors as there is no way I could have this paid off in full in 7 days. His response to this was, 'Well we could accept the balance to be cleared in 2 months' and when I told him this was impossible he became very very rude and said 'See you in court'. But! When I asked him, should I make a payment of £300 at the end of the month, he asked for my card details to keep on file which is highly illegal!! When I refused to do this he once again said 'See you in court'.
Is there anything I can do to stop this going to court as I have told them I can pay this off in instalments and the balance will be clear in 4 months time?0 -
The current President of the CSA is Najib Nathoo, a director of First Credit Ltd.
Please make sure you do your homework before complaining to CSA since you are not going to get anywhere whilst the CSA is run by this chappie, if ever.

Very interested to read of others experiences with 1st Credit. My DH had big debt problems a few years back but we were able to re-mortgage our house and negotiated amounts in full and final settlement, also enabling us to have two charges on our property lifted.
Because things were so chaotic at the time there were a couple of companies he owed money to who were "forgotten" when all this was sorted out, but they were relatively small amounts and DH made arrangements to keep paying them monthly. All was well and peace and tranquility were restored.....until the other day when I found two letters (Dated January 08) from 1st Credit, stating that they had obtained charges on our property relating to two different debts! (MBNA and RBS) Now DH claims not to know anything about the content of these letters, he says he didn't register what they said but he has clearly been in contact with the company and is paying them monthly. On reflection, we are both now fairly sure that the larger one of the two (MBNA) was actually cleared when we re-mortgaged and, having read on here that others have been chased for debts that were already paid I am really starting to wonder about this.
I'm sure many of you will understand when I say that we both felt as if we were in a fog at the time when we were sorting out the debts, everything is hazy, but we are both fairly sure that 1st Credit was one of the companies that had a charge on the property before. Its as if they are working from old records from when the charge was in place. Neither of us had any notification prior to the letters in January of any court hearing and surely, as the property is in joint names we both should have been notified of the outcome. I know this is what has happened before.
Not sure how to fight this, we thought maybe we could do the thing where you pay £10 to get any details a company hold about a case, and do this for any companies that have dealt with these debts previously and of course check the situation re the charging orders, but beyond that I'm not sure....
I just know that I feel sick to the pit of my stomach that we are back here again after thinking it was all sorted. DH thinks it's all "Under control", I wish I could believe him.0
