i have had a stat demand made against me buy these bullies. I am willing to pay £25 a month to clear a credit card debt they have purchased. The have constantly called me every day and sent a letter every two weeks. They couldnt get no where with that so served a stat demand on me. I called them and when i asked for details to place a set aside order on the demand they became very agresive with me, one woman was even shouting down the phone. once i had set up the set aside order they called me daily asking how i was goig to clear the debt. i told them it was now for the judge to decide. The guy said that the sloicitors had passed the stat demand back to them for an amicable saloution. so it was all lies about the stat demand and i wasted a day filling out the form and taking it to court. I offered them £25 again and around we go again. Check out their website and see what the promo vid says about treating their clients with respect and integrity. They only treat us like timid rabits caught in the head lights. we need to stand up to companies like these. If every one did then they would go to the wall. they made 77 million profit last year.....0

It could be the solicitor told them they had no chance of getting the money. To get the money they would have to have the original credit agreement. If they don't have that they have no legal right to make you pay the debt. Perhaps that's why it was passed back for an amicable solution, because they can't force one.
The only time a solicitor would tell them not to go to court is when they can't win.
Please don't write to them and ask if they have the original agreement until you have looked into it fully.0 -
my son recieved a letter from this company saying that they had brought this outstandin loan from alliance & leciester when he rang them to say that he had no knowledge of this account they called him a liar and that they would give him 7 days to think about what he was going to do about this debt, we passed it on to his solicitor who has wrote to 1st 4 times and has had no reply from them, we have wrote to them twice and also have had bo reply, we have rang them this morning and have now been told that they have taken his address off their mailling system and that they have put a trace out for him, to which he replied that his address is the same, he has now neen told that they will look into it.
That font might look great to you, but I couldn't read it and I'm only writing this because the only way for me to read it was to hit the reply button and take the Impact font off.
Anyway, now that I know what you said.......People like this will harass you into paying, whether you owe the money or not. They will lie to you, threaten you with all sorts of things to get you to pay.
The one thing I would ask is did your son write to them?
I would also advise you never to speak to them on the phone, just politely ask them to put it in writing. Whatever they say to you, just reply with "can you put that in writing as I don't discuss things over the phone" Keep it up and they will give up and hang up.0 -

I am an ex employee of 1st Credit Ltd and yes they are in situated in Reigate Surrey - Lesbourne road in fact!!!!
Let's get one thing straight - they are by far a really good company and are a lot more helpful in allowing people to pay off there DEBTS.
Alot of people do feel they can spend money and not pay it back - let's face it people YOU ARE STEALING!!! Anyway I am still prepared to help those who want to be thieves so here goes!!
1 - 1st credit DO NOT add any interest or charges to the amount you will receive - whatever you owed the bank, credit card company, british gas etcc is what you owe
2 - If your a homeowner your fcuked...they will take you to court and you could lose your home - sorry peeps but thats the way it is. Now for all those people that rent- HAPPY DAYS - They will not, cannot be bothered to take your to court - therefore dont pay them. You will have a bad credit rating but lets face it you probably dont care or you would have already paid it off.
3 - 1st Credit like to clear a debt within 7 years so if you want to offer them a min amount just divide your debt by 84 and thats the min they will be happy with!!
4 - The lowest percentage they will go to to clear the debt is 70 percent- this is a discount of 30!!!
If you have questions please ask and I will ty to help - seeya :rotfl:
As an ex postman who has worked "cover" at Reigate I can tell you that is the address of the Royal Mail Delivery Office, not 1st Credit's actual office. If you did in fact work there, what is the real address?
If you refuse to pay back a debt that you DO owe, then that is stealing. If you can't then it may well be down to personal circumstances. If you don't owe the debt, for example due to fraud, then 1st Credit should be reasonable about it.
Finally, politeness costs nothing, being rude doesn't help and is unprofessional. Additionally threatening to send people around to someones home could well be construed as "demanding money with menaces".0 -

I am sure this is against forum rules.
Criminal activity is not to be encouraged.
As some posters on here have said they owe nothing and this company seem to simply refuse to accept it or are unable to deal with it.
I fear that most people on here would not agree with your observation that
"they are by far a really good company "0 -

Me too, you don't even have to owe any money for them to harass you.
One of them was harassing because the previous occupant of my house didn't pay her final electricity bill. They claimed that as I now lived in the house I was responsible for the debt. If I didn't pay it they were going to come round, take my possessions and cut my leccy off.
I just said "Come on then". A few days later I got a post card saying they were coming, but they never did.0 -

Thanks for your post, between this forum and the consumer action group forum I have all the help and info I need. Although I have read some of the link and will read it all as it reinforces everything I've already been told.
Please keep posting that link whenever you see a need to. People who are being harassed by debt collectors need all the help and support they can get. Anyone willing to help is a hero in my book.0
