I think that you have to let relatives know if you register the EPofA, but maybe my recall is wrong?
Yes, there are all the forms for this on the Office of Public Guardian site and a guide setting out which relatives need to be told.
There's quite a lot of info on EPofAs on the Forums, some folks are finding some banks won't accept them now. If that happens you should know that they are still perfectly legal.
They will accept them. But, sadly, the staff you will encounter at many banks aren't too clued up on the law and their own bank's practices with regard to PoAs and you may need to insist on 'escalating' the issue, if necessary to their head office who will have someone who knows.

Second that, most bank counter staff haven't got a clue about EPA or LPA or the differences between them. Many will ask for donor's confirmation on changes requested which rather defeats the reason for having a POA.

Very variable response from different banks we found Santander impossible to deal with as their restrictions on accounts with POA made any action complicated. LloydsTSB were ok but not sure if that was because we were known in our branch.
