I do love a portion of chips from the chippy.
I still remember eating chips from yesterdays newspaper, i'm sure there were ink marks on the chips but I do remeber them tasting better wrapped in newspaper.

Locally to me there is a chippy that batters the chips, they are orange just like david dickenson their portions are mean and are quite frankly are the worst things i have ever tasted. And people come hundreds of miles to eat them.

Back to the OP i long to get the large portions we used to have and the size of the cod is getting smaller by the day too...

the chippy in the Black Country Museum is fab, it fries chips in fat, old style. To die for, honestly :)

Well I had a chippy last night, the portion from the one near my closest tube station has the perfect amount of chips. I can nearly always eat them all, my local one when I was growing up had HUGE portions, but is still the best chippy I've ever known!

"Why do chip shops provide such enormous portions of chips?"

    Sadly they don't.

i agree, they always do way too much. i always tell em when to stop (usually halfway!), but still pay full price cant bear the wastage.
