Chips from the Chipshop

Why do chip shops provide such enormous portions of chips?
I always request the smallest but always receive enough to feed three people or more.
Most of these go in the bin.
Never ordered a large portion - presumably you could feed the 5000 with one.
Forgotten but not gone.

We demand worse value for money!! Only kidding. I guess it's just what they do - have you tried asking for a cone or half-portion? Depends on the chippy, but many will. I like chips, I'm a larger lad, so when I have them, I can finish them from our local, and would prefer that to paying more for multiple portions of maccyD's ones :-D

    Eat like a man! :)
A smile costs nothing, but gives a lot.
It enriches those who receive it without making poorer those who give it.
A smile takes only a moment, but the memory of it can last forever.

    Don't complain.

When my girlfriend and I have our annual fish and chips we get a small chips and large fish between us.

The portions are so vast that that is more than adequate - and neither of us are particularly small eaters.

It may seem large at dinner time, but it's very different after 10 pints down the local.

Its nice to have thread were some one complains things are to big as opposed to having ones that say my chocolate bar, crisps bags are smaller than they used to be.

Potatoes are relative cheap ingredient. So you get lots. You can always ask them to put less in your bag. It will save them money after all.

:rotfl: Maybe explains why obesity is on the increase ?

I know what you mean though - I used to go to a chippy and was always having to say "Thank you - that's enough" as they shovelled masses of chips onto the paper.

  • Well the chipshops near me must be the exception to the rule! Right stingy portions, compared to other parts of the country were we have lived.

I thought I was the only one who found portions were huge..lol . I only buy chips once or twice a year and although I say that's enough for me thanks..they seldom listen or they look at me as if I'm mad. I don't mind paying for the full amount, just don't see the point in wasting at least half the portion.
