Well after some wonderful help from @orangehelpers on twitter (not). need to work out a different solution to using orange email as they can't split it down from one main account, which is odd as when they were wanadoo they could.

DONT use the xxxx@xxxxxx@orangehome.co.uk thats your broadband account email and even the alais you can set up all point to one email inbox, its web based email only

with Orange each email is set up as default as "mobilenumber"@orange.net, access to such is not just webmail

but you must go here
http://web.orange.co.uk/p/email/sign_up_for_an_email_account to set each number up as gingerdad@orange.net as an example you can set this up as a non orange customer also which I done before joining Orange many moons ago

the default "mobilenumber"@orange.net can be accessed direct from orangeworld.co.uk from your phone internet browser over the network connection NOT wifi, as well as "your account" for free, internet browsing off orangeworld is chargable or included in any plan internet allowance

check the settings once signed up as for example gingerdad@orange.net as text notification to the mobile number is chargable

internet bundles on the Orange number/s set up i-phone and other phones to check periodically

for those with problems or for convience you can call these email accounts to listen to email at 20p per minute, its has been known Orange for Challenged Person customers will waive these charges if proof is supplied of "disability"
more info:
http://web.orange.co.uk/p/email/mobile_email

a orange.net email is for life unlike a orange broadband email and leaving orange will give you access to all except the "mobilenumber"@orange.net -but talk to technical support to keep this before disconnection for future reference

as for technical support at orange unable to help you well customer services may be direct but many other departments are outsourced and customer services are trained to hand off to these *specialist* depts, ahem....why do you think Indians have joined the Brits when calls are handed over - the UK outsourcing is not cost effective ORange customers have been transferred to outsourced teams for many a years where hit & miss the person knew what they were doing, now its Indian script readers

On a plus note Gingerdad you are having problems with a part of Orange and not Orange Broadband itself, thank the gods BT took over the whole running of Orange Broadband as well Orange TRY(/IED, lol Orange TRY was a free product trial - maybe Orange Broadband in hindsight should have been included ! LOL) direct for years to get Orange Broadband steady, comfort yourself and check orangeproblems.co.uk
