Congratulations! I'm really inspired by your story and hoping the same happens for us
Hope you have many happy years in your new house.
I'm also going to take advantage of the neighbourhood street parties for the Royal Wedding - DH and I are going to bake cakes and 'drop' into conversation that we want to buy in the same area when we offer them around0 -
Happy new home
I'm a great believer in you make your own luck and have had some amazing things happen when I've reached out to make similar things happen even though friends and family have scoffed and said "No chance". I'm going through a bit of a bad patch at the moment and this thread has reminded me of my own philosophy so thank you-and may you have many happy years in your new home.I Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole

Bad patches come and go but class always shines through...good luckIt is nice to see the value of your house going up'' Why ?
Unless you are planning to sell up and not live anywhere, I can;t see the advantage.
If you are planning to upsize the new house will cost more.
If you are planning to downsize your new house will cost more than it should
If you are trying to buy your first house its almost impossible.0 -
Congratulations! What a lovely story.
Can I ask if you knew the size of the houses you posted leaflets to? I would be interested in doing it in my local area when we decide to move, but some of the houses are very midleading to the eye. One recently came on the market which I thought would be a 4 bed.. actually a 2!0 -
Great news!!!
Azkaban - how did you agree on a price? Did they get an EA in to value or did you do it between you based on local selling prices or some other method?
Hi Gwhiz, I'd been researching the local area for ages so already had an idea of what price the house should be. Seller stated his price (which was very good for the size of the house/location) and he also used to work for the land registry so based it on previous sold figures and other variables too. Then we basically negotiated our final agreed price £12.5k less than what he asked for, and he was happy with that price, and so were we

Hi, no we didn't know exactly what the size of the houses were but posted through the houses that we thought would work for us. Initially for us it was a case of 'beggars can't be choosers' but we got so lucky with the one house so that was all it took!

You can expect on average a 1% return of the number of leaflets delivered.azkaban420 wrote: »
