Do you have signal, or just 'Emergency calls only'

You can make sure it's picking up the network by going to Settings => Wireless & networks => Mobile network => Network operators

Ah yes, might be worth getting a new one then, as replacements are free.

Settings > Sound & Display Settings > Screen timeout.

Menu and back button also appear to unlock if quick enough!

When i type in an address on the toolbar (google homepage set), it goes to an error screen saying

    'Web page not available'
the page may be temporarily down or it may have moved permanently to a new web address.

    Here are some suggestions:
check to make sure that your device has a signal and data connection
    reload this web page later
view a cached copy of the web page with google

It shows the above message, what am i doing worng? or what settings do i need to change please?

You need to type in the O2 internet settings. You can get them from the mobileguide on the O2 site (choose a different Android handset).By the way its very poor form to go back and edit your posts as it makes the thread very difficult to follow.
