Vodafone signal become completely unreliable - grounds to cancel contract?

I live in Tiptree and my wife and I have no Vodafone signal today. The problem is finding out why. The web site seems to have no support for this failure. The fault board has only a Maldon transmitter which I do not think is my local transmitter. I rang 08700 and the nearest option on the list was "problem using my phone" or somesuch. The person who replied (I suspect on the other side of the planet as usual) seemed confused and refered to someone and came back saying there was a problem. He could not say why or when it would be resolved as I had only just reported the problem!
I must say I find the offer of Sure Signal boxes mentioned in the thread quite ominous. It would be very easy for a provider to allow signal strengths to fade so users had to buy a box to make calls via broadband. Then they can sell mobile service but use the customers already paid for broadband to actually provide the service and make money on the boxes to boot. Vodafone have already had an advert for this service banned because of inaccuracies. Of course Sure Signal is only of any use when you are in the house. In my view the best way to boost signal is to use a provider who does not need this workaround and Vodafone do seem keen on hyping this system which worries me.0 -
So glad Im not the only one!
I've had my iphone on Voda since last april, and I have to say, all has been brilliant up until now.
After christmas, in my house I now get no signal whereas before I had full coverage.
My phone such says searching and then no signal. Very occasionally, I get signal for about 30 seconds, then it goes again. It is proving to be very annoying.
After contacting Vodafone, they said the signal in the area was fine, so I actually sent my iphone off to apple (still in warranty!) and got a new one thinking problem solved.
Nope.
Still no signal in my house or the immeadiate area.
