i have the same problem!! they gave me a free sure signal box but it doesnt change things. I get the impression that if you try everything they ask and then put it to them in writing that they will consider releasing you from your contract. if you have done every thing they ask. i was able to demonstrate the loss of signal in the voda shop with a manager present and they have a sure signal box so i got that put on the notes on the computer with them as witnesses, it really helps. good luck

I had a similar problem with vf with a HTC legend. My advice is fire off email to CEO office, they will call you and I found them really helpful.
But do re-email if they fail to sort out problem, they let me out of 24 month contract after only 4 months.
Remember to be polite yet forceful in your emails.

I don't dispute I am small fry, but I'm not sure what the relevance of this is? They are free to choose to listen/not listen, I am free to switch to another network (even if I have to buy out of the contract). Plus as it affects numerous personal users, not just me, and I know two people who are leaving them, I want out, someone else who's angry with them. Numerous prepay users could just disappear to another network without ever complaining, so I'd have thought they'd rely on the contract users, business and personal, to flag widespread issues. Individual issues, yes, they don't really give a stuff. !

Sorry My point was more if there are such issues then corporate users would be raising them and account managers getting screamed at to fix them.

I was thinking is is a very localised issue or something bigger but as you later state there is no 3G you must be somewhere where there will be little coporate use.

Again, not sure of the relevance - my contract is up in June and I don't have an iPhone.

We often see people on here with signal issue, saying they are leaving, and often they have not considered they have a contract and that contract states outages can happen and that is not a reason to cancel. At least yu understand that you'll have to pay to buy out.

Orange can also fallback to T-Mobile, and I would need to check it but I believe Three has 2G fallback to Orange. O2 is a waste of time around me.

Bear in mind that Orange and Tmobile may have the best signal now but once the mergers settles down once a mast dies in an area where there are currently both then they'll probably not repair it just decommision it to save cash by running one mast.

Three are removing the fallback to Orange where they believe they have good coverage.

As like Vodafone what is best now may not be best later.

It's a rural area, so only a few thousand people living in the cell's reach and no big corporations, not even the ubiquitous Tesco.

Yup, although ideally I'd like to get them to release me for nothing :)

You're probably right, but once that happens I can always switch back to Vodafone if they've got a grip by then!

    Didn't know that, that's a shame.

Oh, and the mast is still down, although on their forum they have now admitted it and there are tickets open, and I've also pushed them to admit there have been "a number of others [tickets] which have been closed over the last two months".

    Hi Tripled,

I am disappointed you have had these issues with your signal. I can understand how frustrating it can be when you want to use your phone but can't.

So that we can take a look into this for you, can you send us an email here with WRT135 in the subject and a link to this thread.

    Thanks,

    Hi Tripled,

Apologies, the link to email us is here. Make sure you include the WRT135 in the subject so that it reaches our team. If you email into us then we will be able to access your account and look into this matter for you.

    Gjchester,

I can assure you that this is not just a standard response and that we do read all the posts carefully before responding. However, there is little we can do to help with this over the forum. In terms of helping the customer with this particular query, we would need to contact the customer directly and access the account. We will do everything we can to resolve the case fully.

    Kind regards,

  • Heidi,

It is a standard response you use. Take a look at all the posts Vodafone has made on this forum. I would be surprised if more than 10% of your posts does not have the phrase 'email us including WRT135 in the title' or something similar. That's all you want to do, resolve stuff (for 'resolve' also read 'fob off') off the board in private.

Now read the other companies who post on here. Eon, Npower, these companies reply with something meaningful. That doesn't mean I always agree with their responses, but their attitude towards customers on this forum adds a lot more value than Vodafone's attitude.

How many people does it take to point out your posts on this forum are leaving us all a little bitter?

Heidi, thanks for the link but I've now emailed Guy Lawrence's team. However, while I appreciate you may want to help, every post seems to contain "... I can understand how frustraing this must be...", so you can understand why it looks 'canned'. A quick look on the Vodaone forum would reveal that site 08880 (Presteigne LD8) has been down now for nearly a week. If you need my details to look into it, then I will PM them to you, however I suspect short of fixing the mast yourself there is not much you can do.

I visited the mast today, and when I stood there 10 feet from it I got a signal and messages came through, and I was able to call voicemail. As soon as I walked about 20 feet away, the signal went, I walked back and the signal came back. This means the backhaul is working fine, and if it could be fixed remotely surely it would have been done by now, so what I would like the answer to is why CS refused to acknowledge there was a problem with the mast on the 5th and also also on the 10th February (in fact not acknowledging the problem on your forum until early doors on the 14th, approx 48 hours after it went down), also why there are no engineers up there fixing it nearly a week later. An explanation of why these problems have been ongoing for a few months would be a bonus. If you give me an honest response that will go some way to restoring my faith in Vodafone, however I suspect you will not be able to answer, even if you want to, and you will be left with no choice but to evade answering those questions.

PS I'm sure it's the Vodafone mast, baceause there are only two masts in Presteigne, the one I visited today up on the hill has always been known as 'the Vodafone mast' (it can be seen for miles around) as opposed to 'the Orange mast', the Ofcom sitefinder confirms the location, and one of the cabinets at the base has 'Vodafone' on the door.
