Avoid Melin homes we are now looking to private rent as Melin have chosen not to rehouse us and we have told us if we want to me we have to look for a exchange and sort the mess out our self’s which we think is a cheek,
Also apart from the heating issues that we have had the neighbour problems have continued but we have not reported them to Melin homes as last time we did they made us feel so uneasy and we was spoken down to last time we reported them by one of their housing officer ,
Also Melin homes staff have made us out to be lying about the problems we have had with some of theire staff we reported the problems of staff intimidating us and also housing officer throwing a tantrum in our house and they said we are lying,
Also this estate is getting as bad as Melin notorious Taliesin estate in Cwmbran the police are always in and out of our small estate about a week ago around 9pm there was a big police raid there was around 15 police vehicles police dogs police in riot gear people being taken away police taking away cars being impounded it was like something out of the bill the police where at one house for over 24 hours , My partner is now to scared to let the children in and out,
Also we have had vandalism to our property some one on the estate vandalised a lot of our spring flowers and pots and spring hanging baskets so we have now removed every last bedding plant and flowers and plant pots now the small front garden is just a patch of plain mud some idot though it was funny to throw one of the pant pots at the front door during the night and stamp on the bedding plants and smash up some plant pots so this spring and summer our front garden will be plain,
I wish I took the advise I was given about Melin homes housing estates before I moved here we was told they are full of anti-social behaviour problems and drugs and we chose to ignore this and it is a pain to get a repair done how stupid was I to ignore this I learnt my lesson the hard way,
I would strongly advise anyone who is thinking of buying or renting a melin homes property in Cwmbran Pontypool Mountain Road Ebbw Vale Gwent Monmouthshire to do their research first or you will end up with large bill if you have one of these heating systems installed and if you end up on a estate like ours I hope it does not end up with anti-social behaviour problems and police raids so you cannot let your children out,
So we are being forced to leave our home due to the way we have been treated by our landlord and high running costs of the house and also due to vandalism to our property and belongings and we feel the area is unsafe for young children we are the only people with young children on the estate any neighbours on the estate do not have young children they are grown adults I do not think melin homes can see this,
So the sooner we private rent the better ,

From Martin?
Apparently not, given the post has been deleted by the moderators
The fact the Merlin ether did not bother to get permission to post, or did not undertake sufficient research in advance to find out what they are and are not allowed to do on this forum makes me ask the question:-
Are Merlin Homes Incompetent or Arrogant?
Either way their Incompetence or Arrogance does not indicate a well run organisation and provides credence to the complaint.0 -
OP
Have you contacted the 'Residents Panel' here?
Have you contacted your local councillor / MP?
Tbh I think you need to calm down and clearly write down the problems that you are having a) with the heating system and b) the interactions with Melin staff.....I know its a difficult situation to be in but what you have written down here is coming across as nothing more than hysteria.
Do any of your other neighbours have problems with the system? If you can find more Melin Home residents who are having problems with the system it will add weight to your greviance. You never know it might actually be something that you are doing wrong and perhaps a neighbour can explain it better (and you might be more prepared to listen to someone who isn't 'Melin' iyswim.)
Finally, assuming you rent, it may be worth considering renting from a different landlord.2014 Target;

Look Melin are not going to change the system just because you are complaining about high electricity bills - sorry to be blunt.
What you need to do is CALM down and do a load of research into the system you've got - see if other people who have this system have the same issues (and I'm not just talking about Melin tenants here - think nationally).
Once you have that info (which will hopefully back up your claims about inefficiency) you have something to hit MH with - again I'm assuming its a new build so there will be an added whammy of MH putting in a known inefficient system into their properties.
What you also need to do is to get in contact with other tenants on the estate YOURSELF. I wouldn't be surprised if everyone is sat in their own homes complaining about the system, getting fobbed off by MH. If everyone to together, it would be far more effective and MH would have to take notice.
As for the attitude of the staff you need to prioritise your battles - get the situation with the heating sorted out and then deal with the issue of the staff. BUT you need to calm down and think rationally - at the moment, I don't think you are doing yourself any favours and are probably seen as that loony customer that is always complaining.2014 Target;

Minds me once looked at a house and they went through how efficient the heating system is. The only problem was it was Electric. Needless to say Freddie walked. Though I remember working for R A Force and Sons Ltd, and we were billeted in married quarters and those infernal Electric Wastage Heaters. 30 years on, I still have not had an electric bill as big as the one for Winter Quarter 1981-2. Fortunately the Tax Payer paid in full.
As for your scheme, suggest the Local Counciller and you lat band together about this GREENWASH nonesense.0 -
Melin Homes has asked us to post a statement. Please remember MoneySavingExpert.com doesn't endorse anything a company says on the forum.
"I am the Communication Manager for Melin Homes and I would like to respond to the forum entry of RA 200.
Firstly, Melin Homes is committed to working with all our residents to solve issues that arise and we pride ourselves on our customer service.
In this case we have contacted our resident on numerous occasions via phone, email and forums, where we discussed the issues surrounding his heating system.
When we received the complaint in early January, we responded quickly and within one week we visited his home with our internal heating and electrical engineers, NIBE UK and the installing contractors to check
the system. We were all satisfied that the system was in good working order.
Further conversations revealed that our resident was still unhappy with the cost of running the system. We arranged a further meeting again with NIBE UK and Melin staff. Again, all agreed that the system had been installed correctly and was in good working order.
As a gesture of good will we offered to reimburse anything over the predicted normal usage for a typical property of this size on condition of seeing the previous 12 month bills which our resident has refused to show us. We have also offered to monitor the system over the next year and to cap the costs of operating the system at the predicted rate. As with any heating system the individual is able to adjust its operation to their own personal preferences. We have also given our resident advice on the manufacturer's recommended method for efficient operation of the system and offered further assistance if required.
Our homes are designed and constructed in accordance with industry building standards, and The Welsh Assembly Government Design Quality Requirements which includes the Code for Sustainable Homes Level 3.
This is the only complaint which we have received about this heating system."Could you do with a Money Makeover?
