HMV - What are they like for deliveries/pre-orders

My experience with HMV online is bad. They had some DVD box set offers on their site early on in the year and I ordered two of them, but they then cancelled the order on me after a few days. Now I wouldn't want them to do that to any Xmas pressies I'm ordering, as I need to know the supplier is reliable and will deliver before Xmas (I hate xmas shopping!).

Also one of work colleagues ordered an Xbox steering wheel for their son and they cancelled the order after a week. Again they said the price was incorrect.

I just get the feeling that they dont care about their customers. Maybe its just all new to them as they haven't been online long.

I just wouldn't rely on them. No one seems to get problems with play, amazon and whsmiths.

One last thing I preordered Planet Earth a couple of weeks ago at a price of £26.99 and the price today is £24.95?? Not released till the 27th of this month. Same thing happened before to me at Amazon but they refunded the difference.

The exact same thing has just happened to me I have sent an email of to HMV but im not holding out much hope...

Guess what no phone call but an email saying its cancelled!

Woolworths guarantee delivery of this on the week of release:

but I have already used the 10% discount code there so best I can get is £5 off and 5% quidco cashback. HMV 10% off and 11% through Quidco was much better. The money has tracked on my Quidco account for HMV (£17.86) wonder if it will get paid!

preordered tony hawks 8 for 360 a couple of weeks ago. Its released this friday (17th) got an email from them at 9am this morning (14th) saying it was dispatched.

Have to agree with the majority, bought a number of things on HMV and never had a problem.

Reason Wii was cancelled was because I had used a 10% off code! and wasn't valid on hardware.

My experience with HMV was ok I've only ordered once so far though! I bought an album, nothing special - it wasn't on preorder or what have you but I found that delivery was really slow, took almost 2weeks to arrive :eek: I don't like long delivery times :rolleyes:

but they're certainly not as bad as Amazon for delivery!! :mad: They were very poor not too long ago, seem to be getting better though

I've always had a positive experience with hmv.having said that i've only ordered cds no games.

I pre ordered Kingdom Hearts 2, on the Monday or Tuesday before its Friday release. I also bought a £1.99 CD Single as I was using the £5 off 30 Voucher Code.

CD was not a pre order and came within a few days.

Checked the status of the game (on website and on recieving the game) and it was only dispatched on the Friday release date :rolleyes:

Not sure why it was not dispatched sooner.
