HMV - What are they like for deliveries/pre-orders

I ordered a pre release CD of them and it arrived on my doormat on the day off release, would deff recommend them.

I have to disagree, I pre-ordered the new wrestling game on PS2 for my son which was due for release last Friday. He is going mental cause it isn't here yet and he could have gone to Asda and got it for the same price on Friday. Checked the status of the order and still says - on special order from the suppliers! He is not speaking to me.

sure you could cancel it if it is still an open order - then get yer sen to Asda!!

I have found HMV excellent, I have a couple of items outstanding which are out of stock but they have em'd me twice about them giving me the opportunity to cancel. Unlike Tesco who had my order showing "despatch 27th September" until I cancelled it in November.

I ordered Pro Ev Soccer 6 a week ago and was told it was in stock. However, still not despatched and I went online today to cancel. Needed it for a birthday present last Fri and was very disapppointed. However, at least they had not yet charged my card so don't have to wait for a refund.

I ordered 'Company of Heroes' on PC DVD during their 20% promotion about a month ago. Showed 3-5 day dispatch but got one out of stock apology mail a few days later saying they were trying to get more stock but nothing since... Coming up to a month now and getting increasingly disappointed.

I pre-ordered Jamiroquai's High Times and arrived on the day of release, same for George Michael's 25 which arrived yesterday.

I think HMV are one of the best sites in terms of price but delivery I have found very slow.
They have such a huge range of music dvds and cds, but many of the rarer items I have ordered from them have been put on "Special odrer" and none of them have turned up so far.
Pricewise though they are excellent but speed is not their strong point.

Agreed, I ordered a CD mid October, it said in stock when I ordered it but I am awaiting it but it saysit's on order from their specialist suppliers.

At least they keep you informed via email of the status of your order pretty regularly
