Challenge: to get a load of wonderful gifts for my wife for one hundred quid or less!

Options
My wife and I have been to together nearly 6 years (one year married) and up to a year ago have not considered a cap on spending for Christmas and birthdays and as a result have spent hundreds of pounds on each other for gifts.

We got married last year and have decided that we need to get serious with our spending and cap how much we spend on prezzies for each other, this year it's £100 each for Christmas.

We always buy presents that are things that we wouldn't get ourselves and are truly gifts not useful housey work type stuff.

So far my wife has received jewellery, underwear, pamper gifts, weekends away and a remote control car (not for me honestly, she loved it!).

I always try and get her a big stack to open and try not to get her any "it's the thought that counts" homemade stuff that's great for mums, aunties, kids but not for your wife!

So I'm trying to get ideas together to find unusual, beautiful gifts that will make my wife feel wonderful and special.

I'm fairly broadminded but anything that comes with hygiene advice or beads where you wouldn't normally expect them is out!

So I thought if I'm wanting to do this there must be other MSE's who will want to do the same and I know it's a little late but with the wondrous WWW then we should be able to make it in time.

Any ideas, contributions, thoughts or general ramblings please add to this post!

    Hello crispyduck

I'll move your thread over to the 'Christmas & Winter Festivities' board, where it should get more responses.

Hi, Martin’s asked me to post this in these circumstances: I’ve asked Board Guides to move threads if they’ll receive a better response elsewhere(please see this rule) so this post/thread has been moved to another board, where it should get more replies. If you have any questions about this policy please email abuse@moneysavingexpert.com.

    Regards

Crispyduck, have you an artistic streak? Why not make a present? I think it shows you really care.
Or why not try to make one of the great hampers that are on this forum?
Does she like sweets, as we all are mad on making Retro-sweet boxes?
Do a search on this forum and you will have millions of ideas!!!!!!!!!!!

My 27yo Missus wanted Play Doh, not sure how happy yours would be, but mine is excited by it. I don't get it either.

Ohhh £100 is loads!!! Personally I would love a huge hamper full of pampering goodies, gorgous bubble bath (sainsburys do the Champneys stuff and it is so luxurious and pampering). Put in candles, a bottle of champers and 2 glasses nd fab choccies. Then top it off with a voucher for a facial at her favourite beautician (should only be about £30) and a voucher for a massage from her own personnal masseuse (that is you by the way!). This should cost you no more than £100 but will be truely pampering. Pop it all in a hamper and tie with a big bow and she will love you forever!!!!!!!!!

(now am gonna leave this open in the hope that my OH will see it and take the hint!)

i always think a 'golden ticket' is lovely...it's like in charlie and the chocolate factory..make your oen and put in under the wrapping of a large bar of choc. it could b for anything like a theatre trip or a trip on the london eye with a show....up to you...maybe even a night of pampering from you...make it personal.
