How much is 500mb on Blackberry?

I'm getting my first smartphone (at last!) I have a Blackberry Pearl 3g and am looking to go on the 02 simplicity £20.43 plan which is 600mins, ultd txts and 500mb of data per month.
I won't be online all the time as have internet at work & home, I will prob only be on it evening and weekends, so does anyone know is 500mb enough or does anyone use more than this? I don't want to end up paying extra charges on top of my tarriff.
Thanks

I think you'll need a Blackberry specific contract as the data method is different when using the BB server. If it's not an issue, consider the Tesco £10 deal, 500min, 3000sms & 500mb.

No, 500mb won't be enough for a month. You will definitely go over if you plan on using it during evenings and on weekends. Just to give you an example, a full movie that you watch online would range from 800mb to 900mb.

So I would need at least 1gb a month to be able to do anything? I was not planning on watching films, bur prob just browsing FB and emails no more than 1-2hrs per day.
I spoke to a friend who has an IPhone and said he only used 1gb of data in 18mths of his contract when constantly online.

Really not sure what to do now, as I got the phone for free I wanted the cheapest deal and not to spend extra on internet! maybe I should look to getting a unltd data.

All unlimited data will be subject to fair usage too. I browse loads on my tesco deal in an Android phone, e-mail, news, sport etc, and always use 3g to install apps...but not movies (ie youtube). I use around 80mb a month. 500mb is loads unless your downloading big files, but remember you'll still be able to use wifi at home/hotspots for that too.

500Mb should be plenty for browsing. Blackberrys are extremely good at compressing data but you will need a Blackberry specific tariff to use push email, Blackberry messenger and the App World. I have an android phone which is not so good at compressing data, I use averagely 350mb a month with constant use, emails, browsing and occasional streaming if videos and music.

When I had a Blackberry the BB tariff covered email and the BB browser and they didn't come out of my regular data allowance.
  • The 02 simplicity tarriff is specifically for BB with free wi-fi, emails and BB Msgs included in the £20.42.

I've had a BB for 2 years and i have a 1GB limit on net usage, i have reached this limit once, not too sure how tho, suspect it was watching a lot of clips on youtube and downloading music etc. Normally my usage is nowhere near this so i think as long as you arent streaming movies etc you will be fine.
