WOW - a party and some music too though I notice that the food has all gone! Mind you I have nothing to bring to the party except some excellent tunes:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=40FvYsFh74g Hard core 'acid croft' music from a lamented musician. Not one for the faint-hearted!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ra2Qndv_xeE - my all time favourite piece of music, have some very happy memories made to this song!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-cfc3rCQOuU - the god that is Robert Plant.
Dancing, jigging and jumping!

Hi all,
Lordy, I'm tired! I didn't get home until ten to 7 this evening as I didn't leave work until 5.15. Then I sat in traffic for 40 minutes, and I can honestly say that in 20 minutes, I only moved 200m
Then the bloke who bought dad's car turned up 15 mins after I got home, so that had to be sorted, then the dogs had to go out and be fed and then I had to feed myself. Now, I'm trying to write a report on a bloke I saw for my voluntary work and I'm sooooo tired.
At least I got my call to my charity bloke done on the way home (new car with built-in bluetooth). I'm trying to sort out someone paying his rent for two months, so when I got home, I also had to call his landlord and talk to him to tell him what the score was.
But.....today was ace :j I've been allocated my ward, along with my two new friends I've made, as the lady in charge of new staff has seen how well we get on and thought it would be nice for the three of us to go to the same ward so we knew people there - how nice is that?
So, I'm on deaf women's services, medium secure unit. This means that I will start learning BSL in 14 days on an intensive course, and will then be paid to learn BSL Level 1 - 4 (?) or however high it goes. Oh and I also get my birthday off, paid every year, which is not counted in my annual leave days
So, all in all, a good day. I got the silly woman with my proof of residency sorted. It turns out that she only wanted more proof of who I am. If she'd said that I really wouldn't have had a problem
On the down side - I haven't heard from the OH for 48 hours now, and have just heard about 2 ship hijackings yesterday and today in the area which he's in  I do hope he's ok, but won't really know until the weekend as that's when he's due to dock.
Oh well, there's no point in worrying as I can do nothing about it until I've heard either way. I just build things up in my mind more when I'm tired
I haven't had time to read the thread, so I hope everyone is ok, and there are ((hugs)) for thos who need or want them.

I take it you're not working for the NHS then V8? Glad you are enjoying things more, induction can be sooooooo long and tiring, can't it?RIP Iain

V8MB have a hug, but I'm glad today went better for you. xxx
I went on a trip down memory lane there on Youtube. I snogged the drummer from some rockband when I was 19/20, and somehow came across them by accident following links on Youtube. They're quite good, but he's nowhere near as pretty as I remember:rotfl: I'm sorry to have lowered the tone of the thread from OS today everyone, but we all needed a bit of a change of tempo after the bad news the other day, and all our combined aches and pains and worries. I hope you've all enjoyed it as much as me
I'm off to bed now, night night.xxx

Good luck tomorrow flutterby
Work went on for much longer than it was supposed to, a typically poorly organised event with lots of flapping aroundWent "for a run" when I got back, I say run but I jogged, fairly slowly... but I did impress myself doing 2.8 miles when it's been so long since I last did anything

Not finished the thread but NPM & Bitsy, we have very similar music tastes!

No, I always had the idea that I would work for a private hospital, and that's just how it ended upI did go for a few NHS interviews, but wasn't that keen on the way the wards were run.
I know that private mental health care has a bad reputation in some areas, but I cannot find fault with this place yet. They pay more than the NHS, there is more nurse autonomy, and they have more opprtunities for staff. I get 33 paid holiday days per year, plus my holiday. All the meals are free, as is staff parking.
Something hideous is around the corner, I'm sure, but all the staff I've spoken to have worked there for anything between 6 and 10 years, and I'm sure you wouldn't do that unless you were happy...
Was it the same ward allocation that give it away Jools? :rotfl:Oh and yes, a 4 week induction is scarily long and tiring!!!
