what estate agent in their right mind thinks 'we'll market this, just as it is, I won't be wasting my time at all'.

What options do you think the agent has?

Faced with either a bereaved family member selling their (possibly alcoholic) relative's home, or a solicitor handling the executry sale, what happens if the relative doesn't want to clear the house? The solicitor certainly won't, so what's the agent to do? Hire a house-clearance co. and pay them out of their own pocket?

I don't know the areas, but if they are properly priced they'll go. If not, yes, in today's market, someone will be wasting their time.

I think that was the main thing that surprised me about the one I posted- even though it's a nice area it seems pretty expensive. Even without the clutter it obviously needs some work (new windows at the back for a start, possibly kitchen and bathroom though impossible to tell from photos). At least the agent does say "requiring up grading and refurbishment"!

How on earth do people think that houses like that are going to sell, unless you are a developer and are just planning on doing it up and not living there yourself, I wouldn't want to live in any of those houses.

I can understand it - somewhat - if a person has died, but still it wouldn't take the family long to get it all in a skip! Though I know some just don't care, nor want to do it.

It makes me wonder what they people selling are actually thinking and the estate agents as well! I saw a property for rent a little bit ago and it wasn't too bad but for the fact that the main centerpiece in the lounge was built up over the fireplace.....what was it...... a huge pyramid of larger cans seemingly stuck to the wall! Why?!

One of the best things I find for house hunting, be it renting or buying is Google maps! If you don't really want to go and visit numerous houses, I always look on Google maps.

Last week, I saw a good property to rent, great low rent price and I immediately though, what's wrong with it? Then I looked on Google maps, house looked OK, I looked up and there was 4 huge tower blocks around it, I 'walked' down the street and the end house had its door open, there was 3 teens drinking larger holding their fingers up to the camera, so much junk on the street you wouldn't believe and some female teens with babies in tow sat on the street, legs hanging over the pavement, bottles next to them! That was why the rent was so low! *Shivers*

Can I refer you back to #24?

Who do you think is going to clean it up? If we assume the owner passed away, the family either don't want to clean it, or there are no family.... then who?

    £149,950 ??? Nooo......

In Portsmouth I'm afraid yes, can't understand it myself we looked at quite a few that were all silly money and hated all of them! 9 miles out of the city we now have a lovely little EOT place with a 40' garden and can hear peahens and cows/sheep in the evenings.
    Trev. Having an out-of-money experience!
C'MON! Let's get this debt sorted!!

How about this one that I came across a few weeks ago: http://www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/property-31874798.html

Reminds me of that poor old guy's house on A Life of Grime. Shame as it's in a nice area and looks like it could be a decent house.

I see there's no room measurements on the advert ... I guess they couldn't get into the rooms to get the measuring tape out!

Please name the location. Streetview horrors are an obsession of mine.

I live in this flat and can see into the back garden of the Pompey property.
