Cheer me up cheaply please!

Hi all,
I'm looking for ideas to cheer myself up without spending anything (or only a little!)
I know it sounds pathetic but am feeling sorry for myself due to debt, prospect of being made redundant, having been recently dumped, overwieght, etc etc life is just a being a bit rubbish!
I used to go out and buy myself something nice but obviously don't want to resort to this! so was hoping someone can suggest things that cheer them up that I could try to make me feel a bit better.
Thanks for any nice suggestions

Volunteer at a homeless charity, it will make you count your blessing.
Help to cook lunch or tea, it really does make a difference to them and to you
Google it.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
go out for a brisk walk when you can, get some fresh air and appreciate the natural beauty. I usually feel thankful for everything I do have when I do this and focus less on what I dont.0

take a nice hot bubbly bath with lots of lovely smellies and candlesDEC GC £463.67/£450

I've recently read 'The Happiness Project' by Gretchen Rubin which is full of ideas for a year long project for improving happiness..... For a potted version of the ideas see 'Making Slough Happy' (which applied the ideas to a whole community)

maybe paint your nails if part of your previous spends were on beauty products.take a nice hot bubbly bath with lots of lovely smellies and candles
And, volunteering at the same time...take a plastic bag on your walk and fill it with litter (be safe though). You've spent no money, you've got out and appreciated the fresh air, exercised boosting your mood, and improved your local area!0 -
Save heating and be entertained - go to your local library (while it's still there)
As well as reading books you can book time on a computer and browse the pamphlets for what's on locally, classes that are offered etc (usually discounts for the unemployed) maybe a good time to take up or improve on a hobby, learn cookery/a language/pilates/ whatever.

you'll get an email from each every day to delete, but every now and then there will be a much reduced treat you can purchase, eg I'm going to have a fish pedicure and foot massage for £16 instead of £40. A special pampering treat for the end of the month working out at £4 a week.0 -
An old film and a good friend
(well it doesn't have to be and old film but the old romantics always cheer me up!!) or even just the old film on your own if friends are not nearby
Hope things improve for you soon x

Thank you for the suggestions, I've looked into helping the homeless and my nearest one is in the city 17 miles away! I'm afraid I live in an old mining village, middle of nowhere, local library 14 miles away, but in the other direction but it is very good when I go into town, will go this weekend and maybe pick up a dvd

I need to meet some new friends, my current ones are all partnered up and make me feel like Bridget Jones at the dinner party :rotfl:am so knackered though after helping my folks and work and the thought of going to a pub alone scares the *** out of me!
Have already found some nail polish and am sat on the sofa with my dog sorting my nails out :T0 -
Hels, I know how you feel re the friends with boyfriends issue (although it was a while ago for me now), it's amazing how it will open up new opportunities for you though, by doing just what you are now and putting feelers out to find new friends, either through volunteering or the occasional drink at your local pub. I am still very good friends now with the girls I met 20 years ago in the exact'ish' same way, split up with husband, no friends, repossessed house, debt but determined to start afresh and best thing I ever did, my origianal friends either split up with their fellas or got back in contact, swings and roundabouts
