I would now run an sfc /scannow http://www.updatexp.com/scannow-sfc.html just scroll down to the orange text that says How to use scannow sfc...

Its really quite simple

Now read and follow the instructions on that page to run sfc. Basically:

Click Start, then Run, then type in sfc /scanow and click OK.

Have your Windows XP CD ready in case it prompts you for it.

did as advised (eventually) then tried again on my daughters and the same thing happened. only seems to be on her user account though?
wont even open her homepage (ceebeebies)
