40GB BE Value Package to be withdrawn

I've just received notice that my 40GB BE Value package (8 meg) [£7.66pm] will be withdrawn at the end of March. I'm told that I'll transfer to the standard BE Value package (12 meg, unlimited) [£14.08pm].
Since I'm unable to take advantage of speeds greater than 8 meg, and I have no need for more than 40GB I'm looking around for a cheaper alternative.
Samknows gives the following LLU options:
AOL LLU
O2 / Be LLU
Bulldog LLU
TalkTalk (CPW) LLU
Sky Broadband / Easynet LLU
Pipex LLU
Tiscali LLU
Any suggestions?
Thanks

You don't need to have a Sky sub to have Sky broadband.
How about O2 (same network as Be)? If you have an O2 mobile you can register (it needn't be yours) then you'll get the £5 mobile discount. That would give your 'The Basics' for £8.17. But the cap is 20GB.No free lunch, and no free laptop

Any suggestions?
I suggest that you stay put because there is nothing on your list worth switching to.
The 40GB cap on your package has never ever been enforced, so customers have had unlimited, no traffic management internet for £7.50 per month. You may get a loyalty discount if you stay, worth asking anyway. Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0 -
Is Sky broadband any good though? You don't need to have a Sky sub to have Sky broadband.
Thanks, unfortunately 20GB is probably not quite enough, I could manage with 30GB.How about O2 (same network as Be)? If you have an O2 mobile you can register (it needn't be yours) then you'll get the £5 mobile discount. That would give your 'The Basics' for £8.17. But the cap is 20GB.Stompa0 -
Yes, that's my fallback position, but no harm in looking around.I suggest that you stay put because there is nothing on your list worth switching to.
Somebody on their forum suggested that the reason they're pulling this package is because they've been unable to implement the cap. If that's true, then I'm pretty annoyed that I'll end up paying an additional £77pa simply because they've been unable to implement the package they sold me (and which I chose because it best met my requirements). The 40GB cap on your package has never ever been enforced,...Stompa0 -
See what happens when you ask for a MAC code .
You dont have to use it .

Also looking for somewhere else to switch to. I don't really want to spend a fortune on Internet. Our phone line is with the Post Office and suits us perfectly as it has the free UK mobile and international calls at the weekend, so we're not looking to move the phoneline too and therefore can't consider a package.
Stompa - what did you decide to do? Stay put or switch?
Anyone have any recommendations?0
