I'm am after one too due to all the basil we have growing and the teeny pot my stick blender has to chop the basil up with, making a few jars of pesto takes hours! I'm also hoping my tomatoes are gonna pay off big time this year so can make passata for the freezer.

I use the metal blade for most things, the plastic blade for mixing cakes and the large grating disc. Don't use the blender part, use my hand blender instead.

If you want to make pastry, you need a mixer. Kenwood is cheaper, but Kitchenaid is the best.

According to Which? the top processors are:

    Magimix Compact 3100
    KitchenAid Artisan 5KFPM770
    Magimix Le Micro 12245
    Dualit 88610

Still looking at food processors, but they are the kitchen item I know least about.

I often have some beef left over from a Sunday that sometimes gets wasted:o & I would like to be able to mince it. Is it only Kenwood chefs that have mincing attachments, they are they only ones I can find?

Also just started dipping my toe in with dough & it would be nice if it had a "dough hook".

Anyone know of any brands that has a meat mincer & a dough hook/mixer? Apart from Kenwood, or is that my only choice?

    Thank you

Ohh, get a Chef. Mine is about thirty years old and I inherited it from a relative but it came with a vast array of attachments, which is great fun. You can buy second hand ones on Ebay for a fraction of the cost of a new one, plus lots of the more obscure attachments like the sausage maker and wheat grinder.

I have a dough hook for mine, btw, and I can honestly say that with a dough hook and a warm place to proove the bread you'll never need to even think of getting a bread machine. The bread I make this way is vastly superior than anything that's ever come out of my bread machines...and I've worn out two.

But if you just want a quick way to mince things you can still get good old hand cranked mincers.

As I need a new food processor I would like to get an electric one.

Kenwood Chefs look more like food mixers than processors, is yours the mixer style?

MrsE, in case you can't get any mincing attachment for a processor................I found my Kenwood mincing rings were full of rust :( - anyway, while I was awaiting new ones I discovered that if you chop leftover meat finely, add veg and gravy and top with thinly sliced pots, it makes a lovely meal - a bit between cottage pie & hotpot! :)
