Congratulations you must be so chuffed!.:)
I had a very similar experience to your daughter.:)
One of our closest friend was having a meal/party as he was emigrating.
I had niggles but nothing bad & enjoyed the party.
We left just after midnight & my waters broke in the car. We went home got the hospital bag & went straight to hospital ( by now i could hardly walk). First inspection I was nearly 9cms dilated:eek:.
I was pushing nearly straight away & gave birth with most of my party clothes still on! (No time to get in to a nightie!) & too late for pain relief!.
Funny thing is we called all our friends at the party to tell them we had just had our Son & most of them where still there! no-one could believe it:D.
Looking back at it I wouldn't have changed how it happened for the world as I would of been more panicky!.
I was told if I have another make sure I get there a lot quicker!.
All together it was a positive experience & made most of my pals jealous!

Thanks. Wow Furny...you were lucky to get there in time. Like you say though at least you had no time to panic!

I must look like I've lost my marbles, walking round with a big soft grin on my face and telling anyone who will listen!

    For you on becoming a nanny;

We loved you from the very start,
You stole our breath, embraced our heart.
Our life together has just begun,
You’re part of us our little one.

We have daydreamed of the things we’d share,
Like bedtime stories and teddy bears.
Like first steps and skinned knees,
    Like nursery rhymes and ABC’s.

We thought of things you’d want to know,
Like how birds fly and flowers grow.
We thought of lessons we’d need to share,
Like standing tall and playing fair.

Each naptime we lay you down to sleep,
We gently kiss your head and cheek.
We count your little fingers and toes,
We memorize your eyes and nose.

We linger at your nursery door,
Awed each day we love you more.
Through misty eyes, we dim the light,
We whisper “We Love You” every night.

We loved you from the very start,
You stole our breath, embraced our heart.
As grandparents and grandchild our journey’s begun,
Our hearts are yours, forever, little one.

Im so happy for you, bet those first cuddles were magic. Lovely news :)

Congratulations! What a fab birth. My second was like that, had been having pains on and off for 3 weeks, saw MW for routine check at 1 week over and I was 8cm dilated! She said "I'll see you tomorrow when you've had that baby", I went another 4 days before going into labour properly... G born in 1hr 40 from waters breaking to afterbirth, have also been advised that it's a home birth next time as we live 45 min from hospital - and up to 2 hours at rush hour...

Thank you all so much for allowing me to share this wonderful 24 hours with you. You've all been so very kind and understanding and so helpful too.

I've never felt like I'm on such a high as I've been today and it's made all the minor worries of life just seem totally insignificant.

I'm so delighted with our new baby Patrick and tremendously relieved my daughter got through her first labour so well.

Thank you all again from the bottom of my heart. God bless you all for your kindness.

Thank you all so much!! I'm so very happy to tell you my daughter had a little boy, 7lb 4 oz afew minutes after midnight!!!!! Mummy and baby fine, thank God.

I can't believe how quick it was for her. She'd had little niggles all day (but hadn't told me) then the pains intensified about 8pm. Went to hospital where they became quite strong. Waters broke at 1130pm and baby born just after midnight.

No drugs, not even gas and air, and no stitches either. My daughter and her partner are on cloud nine and I just want to shout it from the rooftops!!!!!!

Can't go in to meet baby till this afternoon but I'm just soooooo happy it all went so well.

Thanks to you lovely people for the words of encouragement.

oh congratulations!!!! how lovely! Its brilliant being a Nan or Grandma (whichever you want to be called).
best wishes to the new family!
