It is even more rubbish when children from low income families have to leave school because of lack of money.
Apologises to op, but I had to reply to this statement.0 -

Did you really have to? How would being from a low income family make you drop out of school. I am from a low income family, but I got myself a job whilst at school to pay for the travel. The schooling itself was free so why do people like you feel it's necessary to hand out free money to kids to make them stay on at school when they have no desire to.0 -

Why are people like you so bitter and twisted because you didn't get it? I work and I get EMA and I wanted to stay at school and I want to go to uni. Times have changed.0 -

If you are from a low income family it was your choice not to get ema.
One of my sons has worked nearly all the time he has been at school starting with a paper round, then in a supermarket, as well as getting ema and now he is working while at university.
So you are very wrong about ema bribing kids to stay on at school because if you don't get the grades in gcse A levels are not an option.YouGov

It was not my choice not to get EMA. It was not available to me a few years ago. It has only recently been introduced. It is basically stealing from taxpayers and I would never have considered getting it even if I was eligable. It almost makes me sick that people would agree with such a policy.0 -
bully for you then but there are plenty of decent kids who get ema so dont class them as some sort of scrounger because they apply for it . my daughter gets ema but son who is at uni now never got it but im not bitter.phantomteabagger wrote:It was not my choice not to get EMA. Yes you hit the nail on the head there. Scrounger is the word I was looking for. Thanks.0 -
How bizarre, Teabagger, that 5 of your 8 posts have been derogatory comments on this thread, rubbishing other people.
Just an observation!!!

Well I have only recently joined so give me a chance. The only 'derogatory comments' are on this thread and are not intended to offend, only tell the truth of the matter.0
