    For some churches, if you're a member they don't charge at all for the wedding ceremony.

    This is what we did 5 years ago come January, as we're both members of our local Methodist Church there was no charge for a church wedding.

    We still had to pay £30 each though, to 'register our intention to marry', at the registrar's.

    Just wanted to say I finally got round to reading all your posts and they're all real nice and filled with great advice/ideas/stories..

    think i'll go put some ideas to the other half now and see what we can come up with..

    Sometimes it is about the fun you can have on little money. The family and friends also feel more included if you ask them if they could make the cake(my mum did that) or prepare their famous vol au vants(my sister in law did that) or their punch(my brother in law did that)
    We got everyone involved, they were happy to and cut the cost right down by getting married in a registry office.
    Everyone 'muckin in' brings them together and makes it part 'their day' also, it was truly great and even more so to know that we would not have to be paying for it for years to come!! xx

    My friend got married in summer at register office,bought new outfit, froends took photos, she had reception in our garden and did food with her mum herself. Was a good day.Depends what you want
    One day the big prize will be mine!
