dresses with straps?

This is my dress:-(sorry, pic didn't post- here is link http://www.maggiesottero.com/dress.aspx?style=J1357)

but in ivory.
I originally went for a copy dress of the Maggie Sottero Rita in satin- I bought it from Tiffany Bridals and it looked pretty much the same. The fabric was obviusly not as good- satin not as heavy- but the style was the same. However, it rubbed a bit on my arms at the back and I was a bit daft when I ordered and got the wrong size- didn't see the UK/US thing. Anyhow, I returned it and got my cash back no problems, but I definitely used paypal, to make sure it was secure. They also paid me back via paypal.
So, as I have said to someone else on here- it depends how fussy you would be on having the exact same material etc- it is a cheaper dress, so will be cheaper material, but the copy of the style was pretty spot on. I have now since found a dress shop that will sell me their sample for (more than i budgeted!) £400- ouch...but it is bigger, and fits me at least!
I also (sheepishly) admit I was fussier than I thought with the satin, as I wanted the really heavy duchess satin. The cheaper satin gave the dress a bit more volume that I didn't want...
Anyway, all that, but I am in definite agreement about the straps- I never even considered a strapless dress for much the same reasons as you had in your OP (plus being 32G- was a bit worried something would snap or bend!)0 -
ok, im looking for a dress with straps, or maybe a one shoulder thing..lol
will probably be either white....but ive been looking at the silvery coloured ones too (doubt i will want ivory)
id like it to be fitted at the top but pretty much start to flare out around the tummy area...ive had two kiddies and my stomach has certainly not sprung back due to having ridiculously large bumps with both of them!! LOL
i like the first and last on my first post,
and the 2nd dress on afitos post...i did a little search on ebay too and quite like this aswell

im scared because i dont want all the shops expect me to buy one there and them on the spot! i nipped into the first bridal shop the other day and felt really weird!! one worker was sat flicking through a magazine, and the other was rushing around talking to her n kept nipping into a stock room...i just quietly walked round peering at a few of the dresses, but they were packed so tightly together on the rails and they were SOO heavy i couldnt see the shape, or design etc.....so i sneaked a peek at the price tags to see what they were and ranged from 800-1000+ so i just slowly walked round the other side of the shop and left without a word being said by me or the 2 girls in the shop LOL:dance:

I only looked at dresses with straps in magazine etc, and bought the one I really liked. I just wanted something different as most of the dresses nowadays are strapless and I am one of five weddings this year...
Straps can be easily added to any strapless dress. the shops are used to being asked this and they have scraps of lace and chiffon etc that they arrange over your strapless dress so you can see the effect. Dont be put off by the first shop - sounds awful and probably more for the higher end of the market. There are loads of shops out there with lots of stock well under £1k and you could pick up a sale sample. I went into plenty of shops that had samples for sale and found a fabulous Phil Collins one for £200 which was ruched chiffon and could easily have had straps added - unfortunately I decided to spend £1k on another dress which I had fallen for (ouch!).0 -
ouch alot of monies!!!
ha ha yeah it kind of felt like a 'pretty woman' moment as i walked in with my military boots on and hair scraped back in a ponytail LOL
