Basically, you are paying £10 extra for the starter and chocolates. Makes it a rather bad deal IMHO. Another profit boosting idea from M&S0

Certainly a lot cheaper than hitting the restaurants, let alone trying to get a table!0

Or you could try making your own. Lot cheaper still. Or failing that go a few days beforehand. Nothing worng in that. The shops and restaurants all take advantage of occasions like Valentines to boost profits massively. If you live in Wales you are better off going out on Welsh Valentines. Much cheaper. My point was that this looks exactly the same as their normal deal but with starter and choclates but £10 more expensive so not a very good deal compared to normalCertainly a lot cheaper than hitting the restaurants, let alone trying to get a table!0 -
Cheap or expensive I really wouldn't mind...IF my OH was likely to go to M&S, choose the stuff, stick the containers in the micro/oven set the table AND clear up after. Now that would be romantic!
I usually go to M&S the day after the Meal For deals end and pick up the same stuff at half price which usually works out much better value for me, given that I don't drink.Val.0 -
There'll be a bit of this left for bargain hunters next week then.0

You are paying and extra 10 quid for chocs and a starter and it's a ready meal at the end of the day.
Buy your own ingredients and cook something yourself - much tastier than a bland ready meal any day!0 -
Just looked at the M&S website, and the menu is slightly different that listed before. Have updated the post!0

i have had this for the last two years and it is worth every penny, the mains and wines are of a higher standard than the £10 meals.0

thanks for menu! and Passatrider - for me and I suspect a lot of other mums/wives - the whole point is exactly that it's a ready meal, which means my hubby and I can spend some time together, have a nice meal, and not have to spend ages slaving over homecooked meal which I do every other day of the year LOL!

early night for the kids, a lot cheaper than a restaurant and no hassle of babysitters (not to mention expense) and taxis etc

I agree, the standard of the mains, starters and wines is higher than the normal £10 deal, either way its so expensive for us to go out for a meal, as we would have to pay a babysitter, and also pay for taxi's if we wanted to have a bottle of wine, so we usually do this on Valentines and really enjoy it, it's nice to have ready made stuff that takes minimum effort for one evening
