I thought the whole point of Subway

The food police comment strikes me as quite silly.
I'm hardly a healthy eater, what I'm saying is Subway has no place on a 'money saving' site, it's paying £4 for what Tesco sells for less than £1.
And nowhere on this site does it say you have to be poor to use it. If you removed all things that you deem unsuitable for a money saving site you will be left with no forum.0 -

Tesco also sells sandwiches for more than the cost of the ingredients. Presumably you feel Tesco has no place on a "money saving" site either?0 -

The Food Police badge by pulliptears and my MSE Food Polis comments were tongue in cheek digs at the inevitable posters who appear on these type of threads whenever a fast food outlet is discussed.;):p:D
These holier-than-thou posters judge people who use these fast food outlets when their use could be quite reasonable and fit into a balanced diet.
As to whether Subway having no place on here, then what do we eat? Potatoes and dishwater? There are lots of luxuries discussed on MSE - for example buying a £60k Land Rover 4x4, but there is a money saving aspect to most things. Someone who can afford a daily cup of coffee doesn't need to rein in their spending habits unless they are in debt. The man without a signature.0 -
This is the Vent/Praise forum so you can vent about or praise what you like, I guess. Also I mentioned that you can get a free sub with a medium drink next Tues and Thurs so that's very MSE. Check your local Subway first to make sure they are taking part in the 10th birthday promotion. Personally, I like Subway sandwiches more than supermarket ones and to compare a Subway sarnie to a Tesco one isn't a like-for-like comparison.0

I always get a chicken teriayaki (the one time a year I go) and they always put the sauce on last.
Why would you want hot sauce?!£2023 in 2023 challenge - £17.79 January0 -
I can actually answer the OPs initial question.
The preparation method for BBQ Rib changed at some point in 2010 or 2009, can't remember exactly when. The correct way is for the rib to be placed top-down in a tray with a small amount of BBQ sauce, then removed from the tray to be toasted.
The problem is that the BBQ Rib can be very slow moving, so a lot of stores no longer bother prepping it this way and have moved to the "easy" method of adding the sauce just prior to toasting.
Just to confuse things a bit, it seems there are some stores that simply never changed from the old "dry" method of prepping them!0 -

I'm assuming this is an intentional troll.
Buy subway if you like, I don't care. Never will understand it though, McD and KFC are one thing, subway sell bread with fillings you can buy down at the local shop with almost zero effort.Said Aristippus, “If you would learn to be subservient to the king you would not have to live on lentils.”

Which you can have toasted and with toppings of your choice. I don’t see that made to order at my local Tesco, do you? I don’t see a veggie patty, Philly cheese steak, reggae reggae chicken, chicken teriyaki or meatball marinara there either to be honest.
I could do it in my Kitchen but unfortunately I don’t have it in my bag when I am out and about.
I could make a burger on a bun with almost zero effort as well.

That's an interesting point because I kind of feel the opposite. Subway sarnies are nicer than I can make at home, whereas I think KFC is no better than the packaged southern chicken pieces you can buy in supermarkets. I agree that Subway isn't cheap though. Since Sub of the Day went up to £2.30, making it a Value Meal is £1.50 more, so now it's nearly £4 for a sarnie, cookie, and drink. Meatball Marinara - sub of the day on a Tuesday. Yum.
Whilst we are on about value at fast food joints, it is very cheeky of Burger King to advertise their King Deals as special offers at £2.50 - they no longer give you a drink with them, so in effect the price has gone up £1.0
