Hi there
I'm looking to reglaze a pair of glasses i have, however its looking like it would be cheaper to buy new glasses than reglaze. Cheapest to reglaze is £20 plus P&P.
Anyone know anywhere?
Thanks

I have the same issue, OP. You know, I got my eyes tested at Boots this week with the £5 deal that they're currently offering, and they told me that it would work out cheaper to buy a brand new pair of glasses (obviously from them!) than reglazing my current ones. When I queried how much it would cost for Boots to reglaze them they quoted me an astonishing £80!!
Needless to say, I wasn't feeling too impressed with their sneaky backward marketing, and I'll be taking my prescription elsewhere.0 -
hi there
i thought i would update on my hunt for reglazing my glasses, i found http://www.specs-by-post.com/ the lowest level of new lenses is £10 plus £3.65 postage, but it goes higher with the more options you take.
I think its great being able to reglaze at this price.
I only sent my glasses and form away on Saturday so i can't comment on how good they are until i recieve them back.0 -
Specsavers charged me £39 to reglaze mine.0

Take a look here. If it's varifocals you want re-glazed then these people are the best, without a doubt. Had 2 pairs done by them.
I've also used these people to get some basic lenses done and they were pretty impressive as well. Although, they are based in the USA (I was working there for a while).0 -

When you bought your varifocals, did it take long to get used to them? I'm sorry for asking but I'm getting really fed up of having to carry around both pairs of glasses in my handbag. I think I need to consider varifocals but I'm worried that I won't like them.Happiness depends upon ourselves.0 -
I use this company:

Costs me £15 but obviously will depend on your prescription and how much you need doing.0 -

Thanks for this but they don't say anywhere what make of varifocal lenses they do. It just keeps saying that they are made in Britain and conform to BS2738-3 2004 (whatever that means). Their website seems to be very vague about the makes the sell. I was advised by my optician to either get Varilux or Zeiss. Another thread warned me that I might face this problem when buying them online:(Happiness depends upon ourselves.0 -
you'll have problems if you are after Zeiss or Varilux. There are only a couple of internet based opticians who sell these. You normally have to go into a good independent opticians to buy these. I had the same trouble when I needed my Zeiss varifocal lenses replaced.0

Take a look at the links below. I get my Zeiss lenses replaced by these guys every year. The darn things are so expensive on the high street. This company is a real god-send. Very professional too.
