I wouldn't worry although its not fun. I got pulled up some time ago the same way, mine was a company leased car. Companies have policies that state something like 'any vehicle the property of the insured (the company) driven with permission is covered' so it will be covered, its just the upload of the specific registrations hasn't filtered through to the DVLA database yet.
Look at it like this.. do you think the vehicle supplier would hand over an £18,000 car to someone without ensuring adequate insurance, yours or theirs was in place? they wouldn't be in business long if they did!
as mentioned, if they had any real doubt it was covered they wouldn't have let you on your way.0 -
Now I'm really scared, anyway will report back Monday, thanks0

2 reasons, I'd already checked his insurance via the radio, which came back as he didn't have any, hence it was recorded, and also it was a sunday night when he couldn't simply get insurance at the roadside.
He was insistent that he had insurance at the roadside, but as he was miles away from home, and it was a sunday night, he couldnt produce any documents to prove he did, so all I did was ask him to produce his documents at a station, rather than seize his vehicle, which I could potentially have done.
You could have accepted his word and let him go. Don't hide behind the old it's all recorded I had to do it that way.;)0 -

What? How about - its alright its my tv I am walking down the street with at 10 past midnight.....Should that be accepted too?
As it turns out, the driver WAS uninsured so taking him at his word would have allowed another uninsured driver to stay on the road.0 -

Who long has it been an offence to take your tv out after midnight?0 -
Insurance in it's current form is a joke.
I would search out any documents relating to this to see if there's anything in your favour or any similar lease schemes with insurance you could compare it too.
