I can also confirm the Classic Car mag for 18 month forms - I sent my wife on a mission to her local newsagent and one fell out. Valid until 1/8/05

I think I know the answer to this, but confirmation please?

We applied for the platinum card as recommended by Mr Lewis himself in a recent tip, to get the fraud protection (before discovering the stoozing forum last week). Haven't signed and sent the forms back as yet, but we have "applied".

I'm guessing that the Ts and Cs rule us out of applying for the 18 month card, as we have applied in the last 6 months.

Would you agree? Before I go traipsing down the newsagent on a wild goose chase.

And to the people that have got leaflets out of magazines - did you just go into the shop and help yourselves - ie walk out of the shop leaflet in hand and no purchases made. Didn't you get some funny looks from the shop staff? I felt a bit suspicious the other day rifling through everything. Didn't find any leaflets other than the 9 month deal, but if I had, was going to slip it into the newspaper I was buying :o Just wondered how others have handled it.

Just flicked through the pages 'browsing' and they fall out ;) I don't think the staff are too concerned, I picked one up, then went to the counter to purchase another item with the form in my hand and they didn't give me the eye. If they ever moan I'll just buy the mag :)

There're usually loads from other mags scattered at the bottom of the rack anyway.

I made a point of going to larger branches of WHSmith in mainline railway stations where there are always lots of people browsing and the staff too busy to pick on flyers hunters like me! I had a shopper bag with me and dropped the flyers straight into it.

As it happens, I now have some spare 15 mths flyers if anyone would like one.

As regards whether you are barred from applying for this card as you have already applied, but not finalised, the other Cap1 card, my guess is that as Cap1 has already acknowledged your previous application, they will retain a right to decline a fresh application. If you have not sent the stuff back yet for the first card and are still within the cooling off period and can withdraw the application, do that before proceeding with the second application. Cap1 will still have the right to turn you down for the second application, though, for the mere fact that you made an application that was acknowledged but not carried through i.e. withdrawn. Tricky.

I think for those of us who are interested in getting fraud protection with the No Hassle card, by applying for this Cap1 Mastercard we would rule ourselves out, for the time being, for getting the No Hassle card. Any views?

    Thanks.

That's where I'm going wrong as I was in my local newsagent section of waitrose at a quiet time - I was virtually the only person browsing. Mr purplepatch travels through london cannon street - will get him to check out the classics car mag.

I will take a chance and apply again - if they say no, I've lost nowt. Well, apart from the fraud protection that is.

Not a bad idea to try to formally withdraw the previous application. Probably won't help, but will give it a go.

Yeah, withdraw the first and see if you succeed with the second application. Wish you luck!

BTW, I checked the Classics Cars mags and it seems here in London, they don't carry the flyer. I got lucky with Zest and Delicious. Particularly Zest!
