I cannot imagine any aurthority putting a give way point that close to a turn off.
And the bottom line? If you are turning right across oncoming traffic, you give way.

The taxi driver turned left, not right. The greater danger, for most of us, lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low and achieving our mark0 -
Think about it! The taxi (or any other vehicle for that matter) is approaching the junction and intends to turn left... so which way is the driver looking? The OP is driving along the main road approaches 'give way' obstruction and sees there is no oncomming traffic comming towards him so moves out to go round the obstruction. Taxi also sees that there is no traffic approaching from his left (same view of the OP) so turns out onto the main road in direct conflict with the OP due to the close proximity of the the junction to the keep left obstruction. In my opinion the side road should either be a 'no left turn' or the 'keep left' obstruction shoul be moved or scrapped all together.
The taxi is turning left. The OP's POV is to the taxi's right. The greater danger, for most of us, lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low and achieving our mark0 -

Yes sorry, that's what i meant... the taxi driver would be looking right and seeing there was no approaching traffic, he would make his turn (assuming it is a give way rather than a stop sign) before noticing any traffic comming from the left on his side of the road passing this stupid obstruction.PLEASE NOTEMy advice should be used as guidance only. You should always obtain face to face professional advice before taking any action.0 -
Haven't read all the posts but this seems like an easy one to me. The blue car must give way at the give way line to any cars proceeding along the main road (which the red car is doing). It doesn't matter which side of the road the red car is on. If the blue car pulled out, it would be hit mid-manoeuvre, or very shortly afterwards, as a result of not giving way to the red car. It's the blue car's responsiblity to look both ways before pulling out.0

Yep, I misread the original post, I thought these were 2 oncoming vehicles, my mistake.:o
