It is half board WITH beverages not half board AND beverages.

A good travel agent would understand the difference !

I'm starting to think allowing travel agents to advertise on here is a really bad idea when I see posts like the one above as it is clear their knowledge is somewhat patchy.

A ridiculously mean spirited and petty post, purely posted in spite as someone disagreed with you.

And also potentially wrong. It is 100% right that the OP and Dave clarifies this.

As my job was contracting hotels, predominantly ones that worked in foreign languages, there are a multitude of interpretations that could be used with this phrase. Particularly as a Tour Operator could have copied and pasted the phrase without clarifying their end. If any 'Travel Agent' took this for granted, then they could end up having an unhappy client.

Yes, I think that's your best bet, even the term 'All Inclusive' can be misleading as there can be so many different exclusions/additions depending on the accommodation concerned.

Of course you are Dave -you mention who you work for in posts-it's self promotion regardless of what your tag says. Forum rules at the moment just about allow this-I'm not saying you are doing anything wrong within the rules......but I am thinking it may not be entirely appropriate.

I do believe a forum like this should be more objective than the local travel shop !

I still think your post was unfair and out of order. Dave has not touted for business as you so indelicately put it or said who he works for. Still struggling to work out why you took a pot shot at him to be honest. After his very calm explanation I actually think you owe him an apology.

madelaine, thanks for clearing that up, and thanks for the support guys.

I wouldn't your breath waiting for Duchy to apologise. I bet she's still going through the telephone directory, calling every single travel agency in the country asking if a guy called HXDave works there.

Good job i dont work for Zorba Travel in Zinginham.................... lol

BTW Madeline - the TR site also mentioned accommodation with wine / water. Was wine & water excluded from the drinks selection at meal times or not? Would be interesting to know exactly what this offer gives. Perhaps if Busicoming reads this post before calling TR, they could ask that too, and then post here.

  • Hi

Wine and Water was included, they were in a machine, not sure what you call them, the type you put your glass under and press a button. We asked for a soft drink, and a bottle of coke was supplied, didn't get charged, but no machine for soft drinks.

    Hi Madelaine,

thanks for that, but that is the sort of thing i was trying to get through to Duchy. on the TR website, it gives different room rates for rooms with beverages included, and different rates for rooms with wine & water included?

That is why it was suggested that the OP check with TR, to clarify, rather than accept Duchy answer which (when you look at it) is actually incorrect!

Take as many potshots as you like-but you actually posted who you work for now......and whom you worked for before that too.
As for me trying to find out where you work..... Why would I bother....You have an extremely high opinion of yourself don't you !
As I know people have PM'd you and you've offered to book for them.....I know you do indeed tout for trade so I really don't know why you're getting your knickers in such a twist
